The apartment manager insists that all apartments, infested with bugs or not, get sprayed with a pesticide active ingredient called chlorfenapyr, and hydroprene, and also treated in crevices and kitchen and bathroom cabinets with a gel cockroach bait called Advion.

I am wondering in particular if anyone knows if the chlorfenapyr spray pesticide will harm my cats? I am putting them in the bedroom during application, but they insist on going in the bathroom as well and the cats may get in there.

I can't be home when they spray and am just putting up signs
to watch out for the cats.

Does anyone know about the health risks of chlorfenapyr?

I am leaving the windows open a couple of inches, too.

Personally, I don't know how they will affect you cats. But I do have some suggestions on what you can do.

1. Consult a vet. They will know how these chemicals will affect your cats and will be able to give you the most correct information.

2. Research this chemical. Go to a library or look them up on the internet. Of course, you can't always trust everything you find on the Internet.

3. Get the cats out! Once the pesticide has dried, it probably shouldn't hurt them, but during the spraying, it might. Find a family member, friend, or somewhere you trust to keep them during the spraying. There are also "Pet Hotels" in some locations, but they can be pricy. But at least find someone you trust to keep them.

Good luck! I hope you can use some of this to help you somehow.
