I have a calico that I've had for about two years. When she was one, I got a male kitten too. It worked out well because I think he thought she was his mom, and she liked having him around. Now they cuddle every night. I think if I would've gotten another female kitty, the first one would've been jealous.

Honestly, Male or Female doesn't really matter. I have 2 boys and 1 girl. The only reason that I could think of...unless you dont care if you have kittens or if the boy kitty is already fixed, is until you get ur female spayed, getting a female wont be such a bad idea...but if ur going to get her fixed before you get another cat, either or would be fine and long as they have someone to play with and their personalities dont clash, they'll have a blast together either way. All cats are different. 1 male and 1 female of mine or 5 and 6 years old, then I got an 8 month old boy, I was going to get a female, casue i thought having 2 boys would drive my prima donna queen cat insane, but she loves him like he's her own, they both love the little one...so moral of the story is, they'll be fine, their still young and it's a little easier (usually) to add another kitty then.

A manx kitten female would be the best partner for your mixed himalyaian female. They are generally playful and accept other cats introduced to them. You will never be bored with a manx, they enjoy hunting, lurking and love cuddling. A male kitten if not neutered will spray for territorial reasons around your home and it's almost impossible to get the smell out and off the walls or furniture.

She's only six months old, so she should accept a "sibling" willingly. Look for a kitten with a personality that would compliment hers. I would have her spayed first. Look at your local animal shelter for great kittens. I adopted "Ringo" six months ago and he has been a terrific addition to our family.
Good luck!

I would suggest a female....only because my experiences with males..they spray.....they will need to each have their own litter as well.....if not, you may still get a cat going potty in your house...they don't like to share...no matter what sex they are.....

Well I say if you get a male then have him neutered ..Cause he cant spray your furniture and he can be her companion..Thats great your going to get her spayed...
