I wouldn't worry about bowel movements unless she is trying to go ...and can't. If she is eating OK, then the BMs will come when they come.

Humans and animals should have bowel movements everyday, though most humans think it's OK if they don't (it means they're constipated though). It may not be a big deal at all though, that is just a best case scenerio. But, if your kitty is having problems at the box, there are easy ways to deal wth constipiation including soft babyfood peas, and Lactolose. But you don't want to cause diahrea. Does your kitty drink enough -- there are fountains you can buy to encourage drinking more. Soft food is also a good way to make sure your kitty gets enough liquid.

Older cats often seem to have a slower digestive tract, and may not pass stool every day. Is she straining to defecate? Are the stools abnormally large or firm? Is she acting acting sick in any way? If not, you probably don't have a problem. Options to gently improve stool passage include Laxatone several times a week and adding fiber to her food, such as Metamucil (start with 1/8th tsp, mixed well with canned food and water). Some cats will eat canned pumpkin - a couple tablespoons daily would be fine. Increased activity is another way to promote regularity. And, if she is indeed having some chronic constipation, offer more canned food and less dry.
But, is you have concerns about her appetite or attitude, call your vet first.

In general, healthy cats have at least one bowel movement every day. If you haven't changed her diet recently then I suggest you take her to the vet for a check-up. There is usually a fairly minor medical reason for cats being constipated, which your vet will be able to treat. See the link below for further information and advice.

Good luck, hope your cat is better soon.

Your cat could be constipated. This happens quite often to older cats. Sometimes the cat will pass the blockage on its own, but sometimes it's just too big. Take your cat to the vet and have it checked out; your vet can give your cat an enema if it needs one.
