From my experience you can't. I have 2 cats and when they were young they virtually destroyed anything they could get at. I'm sure half of it's a territory thing. Bought them many toys which they both ignored completely as climbing the net curtains was much more fun. (the christmas tree became a nightmare every year.) Eventually they grow out of it. Do you let your cat out? If not that may cause it too. (Once mine were going out regularly they calmed down in the house quite a bit)
As for those that say get them declawed. You cruel people, cats have claws, if you can't handle that then maybe they are not the pet for you.

Don't smack her, there are far more effective methods. Treat her scratching post with catnip and every time you see her go after your wall, bring her to the post, take her paws and scratch the post with them, she'll get the point eventually that that's where you want her to do it. It could also be that she doesn't like the post, if it's carpet covered, recover it with sisal rope or try a wood plank like someone else suggested.
Make sure it's taller than she when she's standing on hind legs, the taller the better since she obviously wants to climb. The ones with a perch on the top are good because the cat likes to sit up there see everything going on below, make sure it has a wide base and won't tip over.
You have to be persistent though, and be patient. You can also try the water bottle method of spraying her when she tries to scratch the walls. It won't take long for her run when she sees the bottle, cats hate the water bottle.
Declawing is cruel and outlawed in some places. Much worse behaviour problems can be linked directly to declawing like biting and refusing to use the litter box.

DO NOT get her declawed, how would you like it if someone ripped your fingers out because they didn't like your nails??? You can find claw covers on the market or you can discipline her, I'm not saying you should beat the crap outta her but if you smack her everytime she does it she'll learn that if she doesn't want to be smacked she's gonna have to stop climbimg the walls. Cats are pretty tough and can take a smack easily just as long as its not too hard, but it still has to be hard enough to 'teach her a lesson' but again not 'teach her a lesson she'll never forget'. If you're worried about her being mad at you, she might be for a little bit but she will get over it. Or get a squirt bottle and apray her with water, cats hate that, but you gotta make sure you do it when she does it and the more you spray her per occurence the less likely she'll be to do it again. Use either of tese ways for a while, even tho she may do it when you are not home, eventually it should stop all together

I had this problem with one of my cats a few years back. I bought a detterant spray from the pet shop. It contains citronella ( cats hate the smell of oranges). I sprayed the wall a few times and he stopped doing it. Aside from that it's usually because cats are bored. I put a cat flap in at the same time.I Regularly see him running up trees now, maybe this was what made the diference? Either eway he stopped. I've used the spray when they're scratched wallpaper too, it seems to work every time!

Get a scratching post and / or one of those cat condos you put together, so they climb that, and you can use a spray called Feline-away, odorless, colorless, and spray it around the bottom of the wall where they tend to do the most damage.

your cat is either bored or distressed in some way.do not have her declawed, that is cruel, cats need their claws. you may have to remove the wall paper and paint the room instead.provide her with plenty of cat toys. if she can't play and run up a tree, i guess she thinks the wall is the next best thing.remember animals are for life. best of luck.

That must be soul-destroying. My only advice is to paint your walls rather than using wall paper. You'd be surprised at the effects you can accomplish with paint. Having many scratch pads is great. Good luck!

Please don't get her declawed. It's cruel. Keep her out of that room if else supervise her when she's in there. If she goes to climb the walls, spray her with water and give her a very firm NO
