One of my cats sometimes dips her paw (s) in the water bowl as if checking to see if there was any there before drinking it. I know she's not blind, lol! She's only about 3 years old as well. The older one doesn't do that at all.

Hello! I would like to start breeding cats someday. I know theres alot more to it than just getting 2 cats and letting them mate. I haven't really found too much info on getting started on the internet. How many cats should I start with to have good genetic diversity? How much time will I have to devote to it? Anyone know of any good resources?

My 7 year old FIV+ cat has for unknown reasons been losing weight recently. We are investigating reasons with the vet, but I thought I'd ask here for suggestions on how to stimulate his appetite. Of course, we're increasing the wet food he likes.

Otherwise he seems fine -- active, playful, purrs often -- so it's taken us a while to realize that his appetite decreased :-(.

BTW, an ultrasound showed lumpy mishaped kidneys, but he doesn't exhibit signs of kidney disease (urine concentrates well), cancer, FIP, or infection, so the vet is stumped. Bloodwork looks normal. So, any input on that would be helpful as well. He's part of our family and we hope he lives a long life!

Clyde (usually the more dominant) got out side. This morning when it was realized he was under our house and came right in when called. Well, Charlie is going flippin' balistic and we don't understand why or what to do to stop this. Please help, websites would be helpful?

The vet put him on some "weight management" cat food and he's supposed to get 2/3 of a cup of this stuff a day, no more. But he isn't losing any weight. Should I buy a treadmill for the cat?

My kitten ( now almost a year ) peed on our bed twice in the first week we got her and then stopped and didn't do it for like 6 or 7 months. Now all of a sudden she's doing it again. Only when just one of us is in bed. Its almost like shes saying "hey, he's up (my fiance) so you need to get up, too." either that or she has better access to the spot to sniff it out and smell what shes done before when there is only one of us in the bed. She hasn't done it in a couple weeks, but she usually does it once a week or so. We've tried locking her out.. doesn't work she MEOWS ALL NIGHT LONG AT THE DOOR. Tried Nature's Miracle, which I think has taken out the smell, but what do I do if she does it again... how do I teach her that it is wrong... by the way I am pregnant... do you think she knows or senses it and is getting mad that she isn't going to be our little girl anymore?

My roommates cat has recently been spayed. My concern is, its almost been a week already, but the wound looks as if its puss'ing a little, with a tint of red.

(Is this normal?)

The cat has been rather active, however the stitches are still in, and I have given her all her medication. (1 syringe of .25cc's of metacam for 4 days.[orally])

(Im not really sure what metacam is, and my roommate doesn't know how to ask questions.)

I need help with my Whiskers, she's upset with me these days. I had a lady friend over about a week ago. After that night things haven't been the same. Whiskers wont sit on my lap anymore. She wont rub her head against my hand. In general she's become very anti-social. The other night I noticed her food dish full! She's stopped eating, I think she may be suicidal. How do I show her she's still my number one lady? What do I do?

A cat we adopted just gave birth today to five kittens. She is nursing them, she is acting loving once again twords us and is even eating and drinking a little. The only odd thing we are noticing is she stays in her box with her kittens for a few hours and then goes to the door that leads outside and starts meowing loudley and tries to get out. If I call her over to me and pet her for a few seconds she is ok and heads back to her box. Is this normal? We were thinking because one of the kittens didnt make it and we took it outside maybe she is looking for the sixth one? But we are not sure and wanted to see if anyone else had any clues to this odd way of behaving.
