About 2am, I heard load crying like sounds at our door. We live out in the country back a very long lane, it was a cat. Not a barn cat very clean and friendly. I could'nt resist feeding it, cerial. we had no cat food, later it was gone.Did I make a mistake feeding it, as in it will be back everyday for food at 2am?

Yes you made a mistake by feeding it. Animals will always return to what they think is a good place to get a quick meal with little effort and a sympathetic ear. If the cat comes back again, shoo it away firmly and try to refrain from feeding other stray animals. The cat was friendly so it's likely that some family nearby is wondering whats happened to their pet and why it's not coming home anymore.

I believe the cat got lost so if it comes back, try to find out who the owner is. I bet that someome that came in from out of state brought their vat and it got out and lost. I would ask your neareast neighbors now, just in case they are looking for it. Cats can hear voices ansd noise from very far away so that is why the cat came to your home, also God may have brought it there knowing you woud feed it. I think you did the right thing. I do think that if the cat don't find it's real ownwrs, it will be back, if it does, then hold on to it and finds the owners. I came from te country too, and it seems that most always knows each others business so check around, even put up a poster. Thanks for feeding it. Good Luck

Well cats are creatures of habit but it may also depend on it's situation if it is homeless it probably will be back because it know there is someone who is willing to feed it but if the cat looked healthy and in good condition it could already have a home close to where you live so it may not bother coming back just wait and see!

No i dont think you've done wrong by feeding the little thing. If it was male it could of possibly been after a female on heat if you've got one? toms (males) can smell females on heat from miles away. Or maybe it was just lost and couldn't find its way back home poor little thing, but if it does keep coming to your house at 2am then it really is just after food but if its still around in the day then do try & find its owner asthey could be really upset that their little friend is missing. Not sure about the time though.. But yes if you feed it, it will come back.. I feed alots of cats.. They disturb at night though but they do come inside the house sometimes...

if you dont mind feeding it every night, there no, you didnt make a mistake.
but if you dont want to feed it, then you made a mistake.
theres about a 70% chance that it will come back for more
