She feels like that lady is taking you away from her. Show her extra attention as much as you can. Try to coax her to eat too, you don't want her to get physically ill over this either. Just keep trying to let her know that you still love her. They have emotional issues like humans do. She will come around soon, just keep petting her, tell her she is a good girl, try playing with a string or one of her other toys . I do hope this helps you and Whiskers out.

This sounds a bit like a spoof but if Whiskers is truely not eating she may be sick. If she does not eat she will get sick. If "the other night" you noticed that she is not eating and she still has not eaten I can understand that she might feel a whole lot more than a little neglected. This is something that is serious. She could die. Is she drinking water at least? Is she dehydrated? You can tell by gently picking p the skin at the back of her neck where it meets the shoulder blades. If it stays up she is dehydrated and with a cat that is a life threatening emergency, If it goes down quickly she has to be drinking at least and that's good. If it goes down but very slowly she is starting to dehydrate and that is serious. If she is dehydrated and you can not get her to eat and drink tonight she needs to go to the vet tomorrow as early as possible. It literally is a life or death thing.
Get some tuna or canned chicken and open it like you were going to eat it and offer her a little piece on your finger. Put a little of the juice or jell from the can out ansd see if she will take that. If you have any yogurt or sour cream try that. Dump the old food ad water and give her fresh food and water. Pet her and do some things she likes.
She could be upset by a strange person being there. She also could be allergic to a scent or something that came in w/ your friend or she could be sick with something totally unrelated that just happened at the same time but if you care anything about this cat don't just let her starve.

Do not declaw the cat! It's so cruel that some vets refuse to do it.
Pick her up and scratch her just beneath the ears. Buy some special treats for her, catnip if she likes it. Give her a special dinner. One of my cats likes tinned tuna, the other steals any food, even dry crackers (but don't give Whiskers those). Maybe smoked chicken will do the trick. Make sure she notices you putting the food in the bowl.
Try not to pick her up too often, but a fair amount. Check if any neighbors have got new cats or dogs that may also be upsetting her. Check if your lady friend is wearing any perfume or scents that cats may not like. Some cats hate the smell of certain plants.
Also, get her checked over, she may be ill or pregnant.
Above all DO NOT DECLAW THAT CAT! It's so mean and if you love her like I think you do by the sounds of it, you won't. Think about someone pulling out your fingernails.

Do things that she likes. Catch her, hold her, rub your cheeks against hers, Front to back, but not back to front. However don't do this for more then a minute before putting her down. Cats in general hate bieng held down, and the longer you hold them the more they hate and fight it. If the cat isn't eating try getting it something special. Maybe some fresh shredded tuna in a dish, or a saucer of milk.

Some cats get a very aloof attitude towards everybody at various times.
RX: for aloof cat syndrome
Buy one sunday paper, get coffee and sweet roll. sit in a comfortable chair and rustle the pages for a minute. then read the funnys and she will jump in your lap for attention.
I don't know why this works but it does. Maybe they want you to read Garfield to them.

Your cat is jealous. She expected all your attention to go to her and now there's someone else too. To get her over that, maybe spoil her a bit-give her treats and play with her alot, in short do fun stuff with her that she likes.

Follow these steps...
1. open cage door
2. put cat in cage
3. close cage door
4. pick up cage and shake it (2-4 minutes is normally long enough but use your own disgression)
5. release cat from cage
If problems continue repeat as many times as necessary

I would have her declawed as a precautionary. Hopefully, that doesn't back fire and make her even more resentfull. Buy her some gifts, maybe even some catnip. She'll come around eventually. Don't worry.

Cats can get depressed too...so maybe just give your cat a little extra attention, more petting, more play, and praise.
