I was washing dishes this afternoon and the little stinker was running around all hyper (only 6 months old). The dish soap fell off the coutner and he was playing with it. I got him out, rinsed him off.. but he must have got soap in his eye. He has been laying around all day... His eye was puffy a few hours later. This was at 2:00, it is now 11:00 and his eye is swollen shut. He is eating and everything right now. he usually closes his other eye too, but I can open that without him being bothered! Will he be ok... the vet is closed till morning.

Hi there,

I just adopted a little 6 month old baby kitten. She was okay as of yesterday, but today I noticed she started sneezing a lot. She has runny nose and sniffles and sneezes quite often. Her energy level is okay. She eats fine and used the litter box first time this morning. Does anyone know what is the reason for the sneezing? Could it be something from the kennel I adopted her from? Is it the same thing like when a dog comes from a kennel with kennel cough and then it goes away on its own? Do I need to worry about this or just wait to see if it clears up on its own? I read somewhere that it's okay for a cat to sneeze if it came from a animal shelter to a new home. What do you think? Please, advise! Thanks.

My maine coon cat's fur is wonderfully thick and soft, but she's a bit of a handful and likes to get dirty, especially on her back and top part of her tail where she can't clean it herself really well. I've tried to take a wash cloth and clean her, but of course she runs and hides. Her tail especially will get mats in it. She hates brushing; in general, she's like a little ornery kid running around avoiding her bath. I love her but I'd love her more if she stayed clean!

I was taught that cats, because their eyes do not have cones, but only rods, are only capable of seeing black, white and shades of gray. But when I get my cat Corwin felt balls to play with, he seems to prefer red and white ones to black and white. Can cats distinguish hues, or only "dark gray" and "light gray?"

well today is sunday and she is now moving around she wore off the grogginess but shes too weak also sometimes her back shivers because of pain and then it stops. she wants to leave the room and we let her roam for 5 mins but she went downstairs and was too weak to climb up so i had to bring her but we are not taking her out of the room anytime soon. tomorrow i feel bad because we will be at work till 4 but i will leave everything in the room with a baby gate and the blinds open. she is mostly sleeping i dont even think she ate anything today im just surprised that people say their cats bounce back but shes just sleeping and sleeping and cant move around much without getting tired or being in pain i think. i dont know why the vet gave me this lixotinic thing if its not a pain killer i will call them tomorrow she only shivers sometimes because of the pain but now shes ok. im just freaked out because this cat seems like she is just tooooo weak.

My husband used it on his leg and once he got in bed the cat was licking the blanket, meowing a lot and rolling around on the floor. He was also trying to get under the blanket. My other cat doesn't do this and I have never heard of it before.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Thanks!!!

ive heard that cats hate lemon juice. would cats also hate calamansi or calamondin? it is a green version of the lemon although much smaller. you could see what calamansi or calamondin is in wiki

I have a short-haired black cat, who is one year old. he just turned one in december. He just had what seems like two seizures back to back, he's not convulsing, he's staggering back and forth in a circle and his eyes are moving quickly back and forth. I dont know what it is.
We just brought home a kitten from the Humane Society 2 weeks ago, he just came home from the vet they both had an upper respiratory infection from the kennel and were put on ammaxicillin for it. The kitten was fixed and declawed. They both got some advantage, so no fleas!

It's so late at night and I'm so desparate to know what to do for him, he won't eat we tried feeding him, incase his blood sugar's low. He's ate small amounts, but no seizure in the last hour. I'm just afraid - What should I do? I will be calling the vet in the morning, but i was wondering if there something i could do for now, i have no way to get a hold of the vet right now.

I've looked it up on-line, and I think with the help of my friend who went to vetern's school for awhile, we can do it.

I made a terrible mistake.. I had him neuterd at 6 months old, and he is now 4.

He is the most amazing cat, and I NEED more.

i hate it when my cat bites me whenever i try to pet her even if she was the one who came up to me for some petting. i have become harsh to her before but i overcame that already, eventually accepting the fact that she bites. but just a few minutes ago, she bit again and it got me so angry that i kicker her. im feeling so guilty now.. i know it was wrong.. and i feel sorry for it..

before i wanted to get a new cat, one that i could start all over with, but i've loved my cat too much to let her go.. what should i do? please help.. i would never let her go..

My cat butterstripe, who I have had since I was 6 because we adopted him from a shelter, is disgustingly obese. I know, its incredibly unhealthy, and believe me we have tried to stop it. We buy expensive diet food, we buy lots of toys, I even bought a leash and collar so he can go outside for walks to exercise, I play with him everday.....we give the right portion of food.......no huge heaping ones.......................what is wrong???!!!

I feel like I'm doing everything possible! I took him to his vet, there is nothing wrong with him making him this fat! If there is anyon eout there that has an opinion or advice on what this is, how to help him, or really, just anything that might help, can you answer my question?

Thanks in advance everyone!

I have a himalayan cat, who I belive is now having her first heat cycle. She is laying flat on the floor, everything but her back legs, and she moves them back and forth. She is doing this constantly, day and night while howling. Usually when I pick her up she just hangs limp, but now when I try and pick her up her whole body is stiff and back arched, and her tail keeps twiching kind of like muscle spasms. I've been told that when cats come into heat that they will want extra attention and howl a lot, but is this also normal for cats when they come into heat?
