well today is sunday and she is now moving around she wore off the grogginess but shes too weak also sometimes her back shivers because of pain and then it stops. she wants to leave the room and we let her roam for 5 mins but she went downstairs and was too weak to climb up so i had to bring her but we are not taking her out of the room anytime soon. tomorrow i feel bad because we will be at work till 4 but i will leave everything in the room with a baby gate and the blinds open. she is mostly sleeping i dont even think she ate anything today im just surprised that people say their cats bounce back but shes just sleeping and sleeping and cant move around much without getting tired or being in pain i think. i dont know why the vet gave me this lixotinic thing if its not a pain killer i will call them tomorrow she only shivers sometimes because of the pain but now shes ok. im just freaked out because this cat seems like she is just tooooo weak.

Lixotinic is a vitamin and mineral supplement which contains iron. It makes sense to give her this to help build her back up after surgery, although I just had my Sadie neutered in August, and wasn't given anything to give her post-op.
I strongly agree with the answers so far that voice concern over her lethargy and continued pain. I've had a lifetime of cats, and I've never had one act like that post-op. I don't want to worry or scare you, but something isn't right - but I think you know that.
As for the pain medication, I do know that some vets give a long acting pain med after surgery that works for about the first 24 hours.
Not eating and drinking isn't good either - kittens easily dehydrate which can throw their electrolyte balance off.
I so very much hope she's OK - but please contact your vet. Insist that she be seen tomorrow - don't let them talk you out of it, and have a list of questions and concerns written out when you go in. When you're upset/worried, it's not uncommon to forget things you wanted to know.
It may wound strange, but I'll keep your little girl in my prayers. They are our family, too, aren't they.

I'm assuming the surgery was Friday. This does not seem right to me. The cats I've had have been sleepy and groggy the day of the surgery but bounce back quickly within a day or so and begin eating too. I'd call the vet ASAP - 2 days after surgery she should be starting to feel like herself again and shouldn't be so weak that can't walk.

First... VERY GOOD PARENTING! Your doing a great job!

It takes female a while to get over the operation. By day four she should be back to normal. The baby gate is a fine idea, when she feels better she will jump right over it and then you will know she is better!

If you can, have a neighbor or friend stop by to check on her. If you don't have anyone, you can call your vets office and see if you can leave her with them for the day. Many times, a vets office will take care of your cat for a fee if you ask. They, after all, do take care of animals for a living.

If you can't do any of that, make sure you leave her as comfy as possible. Take one of your dirty shirts and leave it where she sleeps. (It will make her feel safe.) Leave plenty of water for her and some of her favorite treats. You can also leave on the TV just for some noise.

Don't worry about leaving her, you have to go to work. She will be fine. It is you who will be a wreck for the rest of the day. Good Luck!

Lixotinic is not a pain killer...but it is the vet's most common thing to use for a vehicle to mix with a pain drug. My guess is that it has a pain killer called Torbugesic in the Lixotinic. It is a powerful pain killer..and can even make the cat groggy from its use. You might be seeing some effects of that drug. Assuming its pain and giving her more might be exagerating your problem. It is not usually disabling for so long...but doesn't necessarily indicate a major complication. All animals are different.

Every cat I've ever had spayed has bounced back, though the vet did keep them for observation for a few hours. However, I was also given antibiotics and a painkiller.

I don't like that your kitten is so weak and is shivering. Take her back to the vet.

Good luck.

dont know when you had your kitten spayed but most vets keep them at least 24 hrs before sending them home.different cats will act different.neither one of mine was the same.one was totally back to normal in about 4 days the other one was not right for about a week and a half.the best thing to do is call your vet and ease your mind see if there is anything you can do to make it a little easier on your pet.one thing you must remember though is this was a type of surgery and it is just like you or me having surgery it takes time to bounce back.hope it works out well for you

I have two female cats to. They both have been spayed, they both have bounced back after a couple of hours I know they say don't let them eat to much nor let them jump to much so they don't rip the stiches. I think there is something wrong with your cat and she needs to go back to the vet. If there is something wrong you should be very upset.
