I have a short-haired black cat, who is one year old. he just turned one in december. He just had what seems like two seizures back to back, he's not convulsing, he's staggering back and forth in a circle and his eyes are moving quickly back and forth. I dont know what it is.
We just brought home a kitten from the Humane Society 2 weeks ago, he just came home from the vet they both had an upper respiratory infection from the kennel and were put on ammaxicillin for it. The kitten was fixed and declawed. They both got some advantage, so no fleas!

It's so late at night and I'm so desparate to know what to do for him, he won't eat we tried feeding him, incase his blood sugar's low. He's ate small amounts, but no seizure in the last hour. I'm just afraid - What should I do? I will be calling the vet in the morning, but i was wondering if there something i could do for now, i have no way to get a hold of the vet right now.

Go to an emergency vet.
Quickly.
If one is not available, keep him in a dark, quiet room. Sometimes that will calm them down.
It could be any number of things, sorry for your troubles.

I'm no vet but it sounds like a violent allergic reaction. Is he drinking water? Howling? Biting himself or showing hostility to you?

It could also be epilepsy. He could be having a grand mal seizure.

The eyes going back and forth sounds like he's really dizzy. The walking in circles could be an ear infection. I'd try holding him and maybe covering his eyes.

Do take him to the vet first thing. I feel for you. I've had a few long nights like this myself. Good luck.

I would be concerned that he's having an allergic reaction to the penicillin. I don't know that there is anything you can do as the vet will need to take blood tests to see what the problem is. I'm sorry, I feel bad for you. Just keep an eye on him and make sure that there is water available for him and in the morning call the vet. Hang in there.

Give him some sugar water and see if he'll drink it. My husbands dog has pretty frequent seizures and it usually doesn't last very long. I know it looks really frightening and everything but it shouldn't be life threatening. Just make sure he can't hurt himself, like he's not standing on the couch where he can fall off. Watch him closely. Hold off on giving him the antibiotics until you can get him to the vet tomorrow, it may be the antibiotics.
I hope your kitty is ok.

Sweetie - first let me say, you are awesome to do so much. Cats are wonderful.

It sounds like he is poisoned. Is he an outside cat and whereabouts do you life. Antifreeze causes symptoms like you noted and if you live in a snowy/cold area, it is more than likely the cause.

Cure for now? keep him hydrated - keep pouring water into him. Use a faceclock soaked with water and try and let him suck it. Water him down as well.

Hydration will get the crap out if it's poison (sorry for that but go girl.. now!)

You probably need to go to a 24 hour emergency vet now. He could die in just a few hours...and if it was seizures and you don't get help now he will probably have brain damage. I hope he's ok.

Depending on where you are there are 24 hour Emergency Vet Services available.
Look in your phone book under "Veterinarians" or "Animal Hospitals".
Give them a call and describe the symptoms and just what you've told us.

Good luck!
