I recently got rid of our 2 cats who were flea-ridden, about 5 weeks ago but we are still having problems with fleas left in the house. I am also 6 months pregnant, so chemicals are out of the question. How can fleas survive without a food source for over a month? I would like this problem resolved before our baby comes. Any advice?

We have adopted a very shy kitten. He has been hiding from us in different places. We always find him & get him out to love on him hopefully to get him used to us. Last night he ran under my kitchen island. It's attached to the floor. There is a vent pipe that runs under the house to the crawl space. I thought the cat jumped down the pipe so we looked under the house but to no avail. I can hear him meowing at times but when I get close to the island it stops. I don't know for sure where he is or how to find him. I'm afraid he's going to die. He's either stuck in the pipe or between the bottom of the island & the floor (it's attached to the floor.)

WHO DO I CALL TO HELP ME GET THIS KITTY OUT? I don't know what to do.

Thanks to all who care enough to answer!

We would like to get a cat but given the size of our apartment, I'd like to make sure it's a good idea and that I get a breed that's happy to be a house cat. One suggestion has been to get 2 cats so that they don't get lonely. Any thoughts?

Our cat had mats on her back right above her tail. The vet recommended getting her shaved down to like 1/4 inch of fur to help prevent mats. She has pretty long and very thick hair. He also said that it would help her skin. Has anyone done this with their cat? How did they like their new hair cut?

About 3 weeks ago we noticed this cut on his side about 1 inch wide, it looks kinda like a abscess or something then it started to heal then about a week ago we found another one on the top of his leg and now theres another one. What is it?

Mainly the vet is concerned with making sure it's not a urinary tract infection, since the cat hasn't gone yet in about 24hrs. Keeping in mind that he just started to eat & drink this morning- since he slept all day yesterday right after the procedure. If it was one, what would the vet do for him? Is it possible that it's not one & that he just needs another day to start drinking again?
This is kind of a follow-up question to one I already asked. Thank you!

When I brush her she has flakes like dandruff. I thought there must be some kind of natural oil or vegetable that I could add to her food to stop this.

He has been kinda sick for like a week now. some days he is spunky and then other days he's not at all. then this morning i found him favoring his back right leg. should i just give him an asprin and let the sprain heal? it's not broken i know that for sure. but there's no point in taking him to the vet if it's just a sprain

We have a cat that we let outside after it starting peeing on all our clothes and he recently got in a fight outside with a racoon and got cut up real bad. We decided we want to keep him indoors again, but all he does is whine to go outside. Any ideas to get him to stop whining and be comfortable with just staying inside again.

My landlord put snake be gone (or some kind of snake rid product) with 2 boxes of moth balls in the basement about 2 months ago.

There were awful fumes. The cat got extremely ill but then got better over the next month. Now just in the last 2 weeks he doesn't want to eat and he has dropped all kinds of weight. I have been giving him water and wet food by syringe. He uses the box when I put him in it but otherwise he just pees where he lay.

I have called every vet around here and no one will see him without money which is something I don't have right now. They won't even give advice over the phone. Does anyone have any idea what can or who can help. I am in the Wheeling, WV area.

The best solution is always to take him to the vet, so don't mention that. Tell me if you have tried something else at home that has worked.

I think my 6 month old kitten may be deaf. If you clap your hands or make a loud noise behind his back, he doesn't respond whatsoever, yet he can still tell when a can of cat food is being opened in another room. We're baffled by this. Any ideas?

She is 9 months old today and looks like an adult cat, but I'm still feeding her the kitten formula dry food. Just wondering when to start the adult formula....

Thanks for your help!

The vet says that my cat might have the beginning stages of kidney disease. I'll find out for sure next week with more tests. We caught it early, thankfully. However, she doesn't really like the canned prescription food the vet gave me. It seriously looks like refried beans dried out and put in a can. Gross! I don't blame her.

BUT I need to make sure she eats canned food because she needs the moisture from that vs. the dry kibble. I need recipes for making something tasty for her that has no protein, or good recommendations for a decent-tasting cat food for a finiky cat.

I did get that Catit domed water fountain and she loves it. She's been drinking a lot of water from that, thankfully. I just want to get more food into her, but food that she is allowed to eat.

Is it possible that she is lacking something in her diet that makes her want to eat this tasty treat? Any advice on vitamin deficiency in dogs would be most helpful....Also she loves to eat sticks and wood.

I have a 8 weeks old kitten, very playful. She has been climbing the christmas tree all the way to the top and broken 4-5 ornaments already. I took her down, spanked her and told her but this doesn't work so far. And now, she sees this whole action as a "play" for her. She would run to the tree, climbed it and waited for me or my kids to yell at her and took her down.

I have a problem with mice. Recently they have just been appearing out of no where. Well, we have two cats and they will kill them, but just leave them dead. One will eat the mouse and the other one just leaves it. My question is...if they EAT the mice, will they be infected with anything? Do I need to get them shots?
