What sort of duties should I look forward to on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule when taking care of a house cat?

I am worried about my cat. HE is getting fatter just about every day. He has to have a scoop (A tesapoon) of wet cat food, and we feed him Deli-Cat, or Kit and Kaboodle for Dry Cat Food, and we also feed him Iams Weight control, but I don't think it's doing any good. I think he must weigh at least 15 #! What food should I feed him so he can lose weight. I had to buy another pet carrier because he can't fit in the one we got when we first got him, and sooner or later, he is not going to fit in the one I got last summer! Will he get fatter, should we put him on a diet? I would like to hear some opinions and ideas!.

Hi, I live in Vacaville, near by to Sacramento. I have been looking all over for a white kitten. I don't need to hear about how those animals are deaf or blind or whatever. It is not true for all white cats. Anyways, I have been searching shelters near where I live and Craigslist for months now with no luck. If you have or know anyone who has a white kitten please let me know. I am willing to pay adoption fee and drive within an hour. Thanks for looking. Please help people...I've always wanted a white cat since I was a kid. Happy Holidays~

I have 5 cats, and 4 of them love each other, but the fifth just hates the other ones. She hisses at them and stays right by my side so none of the others get near me. Now, she is hiding under my bed all day, and when she doesn't poop or pee under there, she poops and pees on my bed. I love her dearly, but I don't think she, the other cats, or me are happy. I have thought about either finding her a home or putting her with an agency that doesn't put animals asleep until a home is found. I don't want her any unhappier than she is, but I would feel guilty about giving her away.
I would appreciate any thoughts!

For the first time ever, I have a long hair kitty. Sometimes when she goes to the bathroom and takes a poo, some of it sticks to her bum. She doesn't always clean herself right away and it gets stuck deep into her fur and then she carries it and the stink around with her. She'll smell the stink on herself and then act like she's digging in her litter box to bury it (even though she's standing on the bed or the couch). It makes me think she's gonna go right there.

This morning I had to cut a chunk of the fur out since there was a lot of poo sticking to it. I was thinking about trying to trim the fur around her bum to prevent poo from sticking.

Does anyone have an idea of how can I keep this area clean without having to trim the fur down?

My 14 wk old kitten was slightly limping last night; when I got home today he was hobbling around, unable to put any weight on it, and both his eyes had something like pink eye; one was swollen shut. I took him to the vet right away, and she ruled out a fracture, thinks it's just a sprain, so he is on anti inflamm for the next 4 days and is getting ointment for the eye/resp infection. Within 2 hrs of getting the anti-inflamm., he started running around like a drunken hyena (like a normal kitten), putting full weight on the sore foot, the swelling is way down and he seems to be in no pain. I am concerned that if he runs around too much while on the medication, he may make it more sore when he has to come off the painkillers. Any idea how to get a kitten not to run around and play, in risk of further aggravating the injury, or is this something impossible to do with a kitten

My friend moved to a new place. Took her outdoor cat with her. Let the cat out. Neighbor cat came over. The two cats sat a few feet apart and stared at each other. No fighting, growling, hissing, just staring for a long time. A few days later her cat disappeared. She doesn't think it was run over or kidnapped because it was in a quiet cul de sac. She checked the shelter but her cat wasn't there. Her husband thinks her cat was killed by the neighbor cat because it was in the other cat's territory. She wants to know if she should have seen this as a sign that the other cat was dangerous.

I had a kitten that had to be put to sleep because he contracted Feline Infectious Peritonitis. I'd like to get another kitten but I've gotten 3 different waiting periods from vets. One vet said 30 days, the second vet said 6 months and another said 1 year. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.

I am amazed at all the comments about cutting off parts of cats paws to declaw them. Many vets won't even perform this type of declawing anymore. Laser removal is a much more humane way.
I found a kitten last year and nursed it back from death's door. When it got healthy, it started attacking our other cat who had been declawed before we got him. He had no defense against it, so we had to declaw the kitty with laser surgery. He was up and running the very next day.

I posted a question here a few week ago about a mouse that my little girl in the picture brought home with her one evening. I have been unable to get him out ever since and have been worrying about him but I found he had been helping himself to bird seed under the sink, so I knew he wasn't starving! Anyway Ebony found him again today and started chasing the poor little thing again. He was shaking with fear. I took her out of the room, gave the little creature some cheese which he gobbled up hurriedly (I hope it was ok to give him cheese?) and then I took him back outside and set him free again. But now I'm worried about him! Do you think he'll be okay out there after spending a month in a warm house? Maybe he won't be able to find his family? i'm crazy I know but I grew quite fond of him!!
