I have 5 cats, and 4 of them love each other, but the fifth just hates the other ones. She hisses at them and stays right by my side so none of the others get near me. Now, she is hiding under my bed all day, and when she doesn't poop or pee under there, she poops and pees on my bed. I love her dearly, but I don't think she, the other cats, or me are happy. I have thought about either finding her a home or putting her with an agency that doesn't put animals asleep until a home is found. I don't want her any unhappier than she is, but I would feel guilty about giving her away.
I would appreciate any thoughts!

If the cat is not getting along with the other animals in your house hold than I think that it would be only right for you to find a home where the cat would not have the stress of having to deal with other animals. As far as animal shelters and adoption agency, I think you should look in your own community first. See if any of your friends or family knows of anyone looking for a new pet

She is probably really stressed out right now because of the other cats? Who came first, her or the other cats? If it was her, then she isn't used to having other cats in the house. And if she came after then she is just trying to get used to things, but is stressed out from all the other cats. I would make a separate get away room for her. Provide her food, water, and a place to go to the bathroom. This room will be only for her, and she will learn it too. The whole process is just going to take time. Show her the room, when she is stressed from all the other cats, and then after you think she is calmed down, let her out. Is she old and the other cats are young? If so and they want to play with her, she might find that annoying. You just need to be patient with the whole process. After she understands that she has a "get away room" where she feels safe, (besides under a bed) she will start to calm down. This is when you pick a big room and start with one of the other cats. You put her and the other cat in there and make sure to supervise them, but let them get used to each other. Make it a positive thing. Have things that the cats like in there. Start off with short periods of time, and work your way up to longer. Like 5min to an hour kind of thing. Until she is used to the other cat. Then eventually take the cat out, and put another cat in there with her. If you are willing to take the time, then you can make things work, you just need to be willing to put aside some time. Hope this helps!

If you were to try to find a new home for your cat, I wouldn't recommend putting it in the hands of shelters or agencies or anything. Take the responsibility into your own hands. A lot of shelters and agencies claim that they will take good care of a pet that the owners can no longer keep and find a good home for it...but it could end up getting euthanized...I wouldn't trust all agencies

She needs a home where she's the only cat, most likely. If you are unable to provide that, and/or find that home for her, the best thing to do is to contact a no-kill rescue/shelter for help.
Although you were unable to provide the right home for her, doesn't mean you have to feel guilty. The fact that you are realizing that she's unhappy, and wanting to place in her in a home where she would be happier, is what really matters.

It's obvious that the fifth cat dislikes the other cats. She's probably hungry for attention. I know that you love your cat, but it would be best to give to someone who can take good care of a cat, AND does not currently have cats. Your cat will be much better off. And your four cats will be glad you made that decision.

It really depends on alot of different things but sometimes certain cats (like torties) don't like other cats. So if that is the case, I agree that she would be happier in a home without other cats. But be careful who you give her to for some people look for free cats to use as dog bait, snake food, and to sell to research companies to make a buck.
When you give her to someone ask them to give a donation to their choice of charities (preferrably cat rescue) so you can elude giving her to someone that may do her harm.
Or a no-kill shelter like you said would be OK but they are usually to full as it is and with kittens that will find homes faster.

You could try a cat behaviorist to try to figure out why she does what she does. She could be the type that wants to be the only one and the other cats are stressing her out.
If this can't be fixed then it might be wise to bring her to a shelter and let them work with her and find her a more compatible home.

Thats a tough question seeing as it sounds like your cat is just trying to mark its dominance over the others. I don't think it is enough of a reason to give her away though, you need to start disciplining her and maybe not let her in your bedroom so that she feels like she is not getting any special treatment. Cats are smart and do react to training if you are consistent with it.

I'd rehome her. It's just like you say, she's not happy, you're not happy, the other cats aren't happy, best thing for everyone, if a little sad for you.
craigslist.com is a good (free) place to post an ad for a new home. Or make flyers and put them up at Vet offices, groomers, schools and churches.
Good luck.

I would say you should find a new home as she seems to be stressing everyone including you and her.
A home where she is an only animal would definetly be best...sounds like.
I would say you should try to find her a home yourself as then you can be sure it is a really great home and you can keep in contact with them if you so choose.
Good luck
