our cat has lost his appettite and does not meow as loud as he was.he has drank a little water but that is all.

Symptoms of a hairball include hacking and gagging and vomiting up the hairball. However, some hairballs cannot be eliminated by your cat. They can plug up some part of his or her digestive system.

In any case, if your cat has lost his appetite it may or may not be a hairball problem and you really should get him to the vet soon. When a cat goes for a couple of days without eating, it causes problems with their liver (among other things). I think the liver thing is called something like lipodosis. So then you'd have whatever your cat's first health problem is plus the problem caused by not eating for a while. Take him to the vet.

Doesn't sound like a hairball issue. That mess they spit up...may want to consider taking kitty to a vet.

if your cat had a hairball he would be trying to hack it up. if he is not acting right u need to take him to the vet it might be serious

ok he needs to go to the vet. When a feline has a hairball they cough until they get it up. Make it to the vet ASAP PLEASE!!!!

Please take him to your vet asap. Hairball symptoms are just coughing it up. He's probably not meowing as loud because he's in some sort of discomfort. Take him to your vet PLEASE.

they will make choking sounds from time to time and also they will eat your plants if you have any. get them some cat grass it helps they with the hair balls.
