cats are very fragile creatures, but they are generally pretty quick to bounce back from being injured or sick. depending on how bad he may have injured it and how healthy he is will say when it will heal. the only thing you can really do to help it to heal quicker is to confine him to only one or two areas to the house so that he won't be tempted to run and play as much while it's healing. it may seem kinda cruel at first, but you might want to lock him in a room or maybe a couple of rooms and make sure that it is quiet and there's not much going on around him so that he will be encouraged to sleep more and stay off of his leg. if it doesn't feel better in a couple of weeks or if it swells up and looks bad you may have to seek medical attention for him because it may be worse than you think.

DO NOT give your cat Aspirin... cat's don't tolerate it and it can be very harmful. Any and all pain medication for a cat should be given only under the supervision of a veterinarian.
If your cat is limping for more than a day or 2, you really need to take him to a vet and have the leg checked. They can get hairline fractures that are barely noticible to an untrained person but the vet and an x-ray can pick it up.
Do be careful of heating pads, we have seen some severe burns (leading to the euthanasia of the animal) from being put on heating pads - if you are going to use one... get a special one from a pet catalog that only has one temperature setting (basically body temperature) so it can't get too hot. Seeing these burns and knowing they were preventable is heartbreaking.

A heating pad.....sit him on your lap on top of it. Put crushed aspirin in his water or food. Just one...(for a couple of days) but make sure he eats the whole thing. This will help and pain he is in, when I worked in a vets office we did this for animals with broken legs/arms. If he seems to be doing better...you've fixed him. But if after 5-7 days hes still limping or whining when you pick him up, you need to bring him to the vet, that means its broken.

Instead of ice, maybe your cat would be more amenable to a "chill pack". Put a little water in a zip-lock bag and chill it in the freezer just until refrigerator temperature.

I think you should have it checked by your vet first. Cats can break bones very easily from falls.
And if there is a problem with a joint, that really needs to be xrayed.
