We just got a six month cat yesterday and she started tooting and it smells really bad. She still is today. She was being fed purina kitten chow at the animal organization and but we fed our other cat iams and fed the new cat it too. As soon as we brought her home she started farting. Is this normal?

My year old male cat will scratch everything but his liter to cover up his poop, including the wall and carpet. He never manages to cover up his poop, which disturbes him because he keeps smelling it, then trying to cover it up. He never manages to cover it up. I always have to pick it out after every dropping because of the bad smell. Has anyone else had this problem with their cat? How did you fix it?

I rescued this collie(Who i might add i adore)my only problem is she wont come to heel when called if she sees anyone else on our walks,be it human o r dogs.I have 3other dogs and she is the baby of the group. She knows her place in that pecking order.I took advice before i kept her about this breed as my other dogs have always been labradors.Shes so easy to train and she adores just pleasing you,but for this one thing. Its making what should be a pleasure become an anxiety when out walking.Ive tried diverting her attention, putting her back on her lead after a barking session.Im desperate as last time she barked at a family with young children and she frightened the children.Shes as good as gold in every other aspect but this one.Shes 18months old.

ok, my cat is acting crazy and it came outta nowhere.im not sure, but i think it all started when i had a halloween party and i had to lock him in an unocupied room for about 5 hours. i let him out and everything was fine. then the next day i go to leave to go to work. and he jumps on my legs and starts biting them and not letting go. so i bent down to try to get him off and he ran as soon as my hand touched him. he did that for while and now its not before im going somewhere, its all the time. sometimes he'll be fine, but it happens everyday now. yesterday i was just sitting on the floor and he starts meowing all strange and jumped on my arm and started biting it. its really weird and if you put your hand or foot to close he'll bite it..its like hes sitzo. does someone know what this means?

I'm at my wit's end with my cat that's been in the family for over 8 years. She chews on everything! Furniture (wood and upholstered), clothes (bras, shoes, belts, purses), my daughter's toys, ELECTRICAL CORDS!!!!! Now everything but the latter is cosmetic and not worth getting rid of my beloved pet, but with the electrical cords it's a FIRE HAZZARD (even the cable guy told me so when I had to have them come out and fix it)! I've tried putting cayanne chili powder (mixed with vaseline) all over things, but to no avail (and I can't cover everything in the house with it, I have a toddler to lives in the house too). I would be less hesitent to give her away if I knew she'd be going to a safe and loving home, but she's such a b*tch (to everyone but me) that I know no one will want her and they'll just end up putting her down if I take her to the pound (the no-kill shelter won't take her). What should I do?
[Sorry, there was an issue with the last question, not the answers]

It seems that several of the neighborhoods I grew up in had a cat lady. Y'know the kind: their house reeks, their shhets look like a collection of old bath towels, and their bath towels look like cleaning rags from H e l l. They were usually friendly, definately crazy. I want to hear about your "cat lady" or are you one of them yourself?

I have raised about 35 cats in my life.

Mine likes to watch as I do this. He then likes to jump in and use it right after I've cleaned it out. It has messed him up though since we bought a second box, he doesn't seem to know which to use right after being cleaned!

I was playing with my healthy 5 month old kitten with a thing on a string type of toy and she was getting very excited and playful and then I noticed her panting, I got very nervous and quickly checked if she had possibly swallowed anything and she hasnt. I live in a tropical climate and had only one airconditioner on in the house... it's a comfortable temperature but not too cool. I called my emergency vet number and the tech told me that like dogs... cats will pant when they are too hot. I turned all the AC's on now and she seems fine but I have never heard of this before.... do cats pant??

Hi, I have a cat who i truly adore with all my heart, he's my baby and today he went against my father, he started growling which made my other cat real mad too and started growling, my cat the first one attacked my father, his tail gets real big whenever he sees my dad and gets upset, scary upset, real scary. i wasn't present at the moment so i don't know what really happened. my dad has explained to me that he was giving the cat food when the cat just snapped. my dad was cleaning the yard and my cat does not like any noise or smells or anything that wil bug him. my dad has a very bad temper also, he may have yelled at my cat, and the cat definetly got upset. i'm not sure how to solve this problem because my cat is calm around me but when he feels my dad is coming. he turns out of control and starts getting his tail up and his hair starts sticking up. i'm a little scared of what could happen to my dad. any ideas on what i could do? i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks, God Bless.

This afternoon a stray kitten decided she liked me (and since I'm still a third grade kid inside, I liked her and wanted to keep her.) I checked around the neighborhood and no one knew where she belonged. My boyfriend and I decided to put her in the backyard, gave her kitten food and water and placed a cat bed in a covered shelter.

We've decided to keep her. She was thirsty and hungry (more so than normal) so I'm not sure whoever she belonged to was taking care of her. And, let's face it, we are both suckers for animals in need.

We already have a 10 year old cat who really does believe the world revolves around her (our fault, cuz we spoil her). I know we need to keep the new kitten away from our cat until we can check for disease.

Is there anything else we need to worry about? Any ideas on how to introduce the new kitten into our household- our cat has already started hissing at the window. I've never taken in a stray before. I'm mostly concerned with keeping our cat safe.

I want a pet, but I'm not home enough to take care of a dog, which is what I really want; but since cats are more self-dependent, it's be better.

Are there any that DONT smell?

Anyone know where I can get a free kitten in southeastern WI????
