Snowball 1 - no, far too common.
Pib 5 - very nice.
My cat's name is Newton.
I call him George.
Husband calls him Cat.
Neighbors call him Blackie / Felix / Kitty
He ignores all of us.
What does the name really matter?

Tell Pib he is wonderful, but he already knows that!

Cliche or not, Snowball is a great name for a white cat. It's so common because it fits so well.

But if you've found yourself calling him Pib, why not make it official. His real name might as well be what you call him.

I've always recommended holding off a while before naming a new kitty just to see if something pops up like that.

Pib is alright, I'd give it a 3. But Snowball is pretty cliche for a white cat. I'd only give it a 2.
And by the way it is not what I think of the cat, on ly of the name he had no choice in getting.

The Naming of Cats
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter, It isn't just one of your holiday games; You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter When I tell you, a cat must have Three different names. First of all, there's the name that the family uses daily, Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James, Such as Victor or Jonathon, George or Bill Bailey- All of them sensible everyday names. There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter, Some for the gentlemen, some for the Dames: Such as Plato,Admetus,Electra,Demeter - But all of them sensible everyday names. But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep us his tail perpendicular Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride? Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum, Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellyorum- Names that never belong to more than one cat. But above and beyondthere's still one name left over, And that is the name you never will guess; The name that no human research can discover- But the cat himself knows, and will never confess. When you notice a cat in profound meditation, The reason, I tell you, is always the same; His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name: His eneffable effable Effanineffable Deep and inscrutable singular Name

We have three cats :
Ginger ( 30 lb. male) Gingin, big boy, Garfield
Puddy (13 year old Tuxedo) Puddy pop, Puddy bear, Pud
Monkey ( 6 Month old stray kitten) Monkey doodles,Monkey Princess
SO I give you a 10 for each

Snowball and Pib are both great names. Snowball is very descriptive -- and Pib is just plain fun.

We have five cats in our house, all with equally colorful names. And every single one of them "just came up." (We think the cats in our neighborhood pass the word to each other. 'Pssst! Suckers for strays offering plenty of free food over on Pine Street!')

The best cat name I have ever known was one we assigned to a gray tabby tom cat who has since picked up and moved to Texas: the Gray Scourge.
