Hi, I have a cat who i truly adore with all my heart, he's my baby and today he went against my father, he started growling which made my other cat real mad too and started growling, my cat the first one attacked my father, his tail gets real big whenever he sees my dad and gets upset, scary upset, real scary. i wasn't present at the moment so i don't know what really happened. my dad has explained to me that he was giving the cat food when the cat just snapped. my dad was cleaning the yard and my cat does not like any noise or smells or anything that wil bug him. my dad has a very bad temper also, he may have yelled at my cat, and the cat definetly got upset. i'm not sure how to solve this problem because my cat is calm around me but when he feels my dad is coming. he turns out of control and starts getting his tail up and his hair starts sticking up. i'm a little scared of what could happen to my dad. any ideas on what i could do? i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks, God Bless.

Either your dad scared your kitty, whether or not he meant to, or else something scared kitty while your dad was present, and now kitty is afraid of him.

Sometimes cats react this way towards another cat in the household, either because the other cat scared them, or because something else scared them while the other cat was present, and they associate the other cat with whatever frightened them.

This could take a long time to work out, and it's going to require cooperation from your dad. You have to treat this the way you would if it was another cat instead of your dad.

First you need to keep them apart for a while, preferably a long while. At least days, maybe weeks. Then re-introduce them gradually. First let kitty see dad briefly from a distance. Then let them get closer. Each time, reward kitty with a special favorite treat, so that kitty will begin to associate dad with something nice. When kitty seems a bit less skittish around your dad you can have him offer the treats.

Your job is to find a place, like maybe your room, where you can keep kitty when dad's around. Dad's role is to do his best to avoid kitty, and when he can't completely avoid him, at least try not to approach kitty directly and always speak softly to him in a soothing tone. It wouldn't hurt if he'd act like he was a bit afraid of kitty if kitty puffs up around him; that might help kitty regain his confidence.

When it's time to re-introduce them up close, it would be a big help if Dad would sit down on the floor to offer the treats. That would make him a whole lot less imposing to kitty.

The desensitization process could take a long time, and you must be very patient. Any attempt to rush it could make the situation worse.

Good luck!

Your cat is very loyal to you and does not want anyone to come between the two of you. He sees your father as a thread and will not have anything to do with him. He will also attack him and hurt him if his tail hairs and the back hairs puff up like that. If he attacks you will be the only person that would be able to control him or stop him, he will listen to no one else and will attack those that get in the way of the attack. If you love the cat that much you should lock him up in a room when your father is in your house, but if he shares the house with the cat, then you have a big problem. He might have been watching your father for some time without reacting, but now he won't share you any more....KECK

Look your cat scenes that your dad has a bad temper, all animals will attack or run and hide when they scene someone is near that can and may try to harm them. Your cat is just letting your dad know he won't allow him to hurt him, as well as the other one. My husbands has a temper and we have the best dog in the world, She never barks, I mean never. She can she just doesn't. When his around she hides in her house, she only comes out for the rest of us. Never him, his never hurt her but she knows he has a temper and is afraid he may try. The cats that we've own over the years have hist at him, all but a couple. The one we have now hates my husband. His not done anything to him but the cat hates him. Someone through him out of their car in front of our house, him and his sister, she was hurt pretty bad and I had to let the pound take her so they could get her some medical help. The guy that pick her up just happened to be my older girls uncle from their dads side, he assured us that she would go to a rescue service once they could get her better. As for him he wouldn't go near anyone but my youngest daughter at first. now he wants to sit in my lap and loves to get attention. I think whoever through him out of the car use to beat him as well, sometimes he;ll hiss at any of us but his just scared, once he sees it's us his fine.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you can change who your cat likes and doesn't like. Maybe, the best thing you can do is let the two socialize in a quiet room, with you watching, just in case something happens. If your cat realizes that your dad means no harm, things should work out. If not, I'm sorry, but when your dad comes around, you might have to leave your cat in another room or with someone else.

I use to raise siamese cats so I know a lot about them and I have a siamese mix. If your cat is pure siamese which it sounds like it might be, they prefer one owner. If someone else tries to feed them or do anything with them, they can display this type of behavior. Most animals can sense if someone or something is a threat to them. It sounds like your cat senses your dad is a real threat and I'd advise your dad to stay clear of your cat unless he wants his eyeballs scratched out. No joke! I've seen this happen and it's not pretty.

Your dad probably scared the cat at some point for him to re-act that way.Your dad should try to show the cat he means no harm and maybe let him feed the cat.(usually animals will be kind to the one who feeds them).Take it slow so no-one gets hurt, but try to build trust between the two! GOOD LUCK!!!!(I have 4 cats...I love them all)

Is he neutered? I had a registered Siamese that I was using as stud. He got so mean and nasty tempered I finally gave up and had to have him neutered. The differences in his personality was immediate. He became a sweet little boy that never caused any problems. An unaltered male can be mean.

He could desire to easily be taking part in, yet whilst he seems annoyed or disenchanted then he's in all hazard no longer tender with you petting him there. we've had alot of journey with strays, and one in all them specially sounds alot like this cat. She's style of untamed and playful, yet her temper can swing alot. One minute you may nicely be petting her and each little thing is superb, after which you may puppy her in a community that she isn't tender with for in spite of reason (working example, this kitty does not opt for to be petted on her head... don't be attentive to why), and he or she'll scratch your arm off. We suspect that she has been mistreated by using her former proprietor, although, so possibly that's the comparable on your stray. on the different hand, although, i've got time-honored of a few cats who weren't mistreated and only did no longer opt for to be petted on their stomachs. i could only provide him time to conform with you. He could relax with you greater after a jointly as. And yet another ingredient, in case you identify to maintain him getting him fastened will in all hazard help to calm him down. i've got observed that with the two cats and canines. wish i could desire to help. :)

Maybe if your dad would spend a little time with the cat then the cat wouldn't be so scared of your dad. I would fear any cat that would attack like that. One day he might snap on you. I hope not but please be careful..

you know, cats don't usually get upset like that. Maybe something happened with ur dad and he didn't told you.
maybe, if ur dad don't get close to the cat the animal will be more calmed, until the cats decide when to be near ur dad. don't force them or it'll be worse.
