How about making him wear an "Elizabethan collar"? Its a circular contraption worn like a collar around the pet's neck. You can make one from a sheet of cardboard or buy one ready made for your cat at the vet's. That's what they make cats or dogs wear to keep them from licking medicated wounds or raw surgery stitches. Your cat won't thank you for it but it is a "no-risk" option.

where is the scar at? what u need is a e-collar. u could use vaseline to make the scar go smooth. u could get cat and dog itch cream. it might be itchy for him. u can get the e-collar at the vet or petco, petsmart, or i think walmart. but i do know that wrks well. if u get that u can add the itch cream or vaseline to it so the scar will heal and strecth out and go smooth. well i wish u the best. hope this will help u.

Try a baby t-shirt. You should be able to find an infant size that will fit.
Get a shirt for a human infant, not a dog shirt. Cats are built differently than dogs (they have fatter bellies) and human baby shirts fit them better than doggie shirts.
If that doesn't work you could try an Elizabethan collar. An E-collar will work as well as a cone and annoy kitty much less. But try a t-shirt first.

Licking will cause infection so stop your dog from licking.I had a small crate and my dog fit just fine, maybe the cone is to big so ask to exchange it but do it..Emergency surgery is much more expensive than getting a different size collar..!!

There is a product called Spray Sour, i think that is the name and it is safe for spraying directly on the cat and will not hurt it, you can also spray on furniture, to get a cat from biting things, but it has a taste that will definately make the cat think twice! Good luck :) i found it at petsmart, if you ahve one of those near you, it certainly worked for me!

My other cat. Dixie (deceased) used to constantly lick herself - until I went to the Health Food store and asked them what was safe to put on my cat for all the licking. It was "Licorice" oil. I would rub some on my hands, then apply it to her & the odor was disgusting to her; but, prevented her from licking herself hairless.
1. Getting it off your hands - use lemons juice.
2. Wear gloves when applying it next time.

Get one of those cone things they put on dogs after getting neutered of spayed. This prevents them from being able to lick or gnaw at that area. They must have something similar for cats. Check your vet.

Get a buster coller i think they are called that any way, because when my cats came back from the vets from having an operation they kept cleaning the scar we put a buster collar on them. They might not like it at first but will get used to it. Try letting her/him clean themself when you are watching them and if they start cleaning the scar put your hand there and he/she will soon learn not to clean it. HOPE THAT HELPS YOU!!!

Make a paste with honey and cayenne pepper and put it on the scar. That'll stop him from wanting to lick that area.
