3 weeks ago, our cat had a severe allergic reaction to a flea spray. Our vet gave him his rabies shot, a shot so he would quit scratching (he's allergic to flea bites) and his monthly flea medication. 3 days ago, I noticed he had developed two open wounds on his front leg, and back leg, almost the size of a pencil eraser. He seems lethargic, labored breathing, minimal bowel movements. Our vet will not be in his office until tomorrow. He is still eating, though not as much as usual. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I got an 8 year old cat about 6 weeks ago. This weekend, she developed loose stool, and vomited once. I took her to the vet, everything checked out fine, and now she's back at home, taking antibiotics, and eating a prescription food that's made to be gentle on the G/I tract. The problem is that since she came home on Monday evening, she hasn't pooped once. I know that a cat eating wet food (she normally eats dry) drinks less, but she shouldn't be dehydrated eating wet food... Her appetite is normal, and she doesn't seem to be straining or making unsuccessful trips to the litterbox. She doesn't seem uncomfortable at all. Is this something I need to counteract? It seems odd that she's gone from loose stool to none, especially with this new food. I'd rather not head back to the vet (and spend another $150) unless needed. Any help/ideas? Her old owner said she gets constipated from time to time, and has some prescription meds that she used for it, should I use that??

Sometimes I wonder if he's just really bored. I've tried giving him diet or light cat food but he either pukes it up, begs ten times more, or gets a bloody stool. I've then tried limiting his rations which makes him go crazy with begging! If I give him 'all-u-can-eat' buffet, he poops and pees in the middle of my bed!!!!! What should I do??

I arfue with my mom over how she takes care of her cat. She scoops the litterbox about twice a week. She never actually empties and washes the litterbox only adds more litter when it starts to get low. I think this is disgusting. I think she should scoop daily, and completely change/wash out litterbox once a week. What do you cat owners out there do?

Get ready for the main event. My girlfriend's chiuhauha, HiJinx, will be over this weekend. Coincidentally, I will also be watching my neighbors cat - Ms. Kitty. Though I am not setting up a formal brawl, I do expect that there will be several occasions where they go a few rounds, especially since neither is well adjusted. Here are the players:
HiJinx - 3 yr old Chihuahua - bad attitude - wearing the red diaper
Ms. Kitty - 6 year old cat, does not play well with others. Siamese - no claws - wearing no shorts.
I will have my popcorn ready - who do you think will get the upper hand. What do you see happening?

Is okay and safe to shave a cat bald? this is not a dirty joke I promise, I cannot get rid of her fleas I have tried sooo many different things and nothing works. She demands to sleep in bed with my daughter and I don't want fleas in my daughters bed. Every time I give her a bath I notice she is infested, she is an inside cat and always has been. I have never seen a flea in my house, ever, but I think they come up through the carpet and she is a long hair cat. What would happen if I shaved her??????

My dog and cat have never been left alone and I am hiring a pet sitter for an upcoming weekend. I am interviewing three. What should I ask them? Should I go with someone who will stay overnight in the house with them? Or, just someone who comes several times a day? What are some lessons learned from your experiences? What should I look for? What should I watch out for?

I lost my cat a few weeks ago and haven't found her. She had a unique personality-- she hated everyone but me. She would scratch anyone who I didn't like and who she thought might hurt me. She left her 1 1/2 year old son, and now after spending time with me petting him, he's slowly becoming more and more just like her. He comes to me when I just stretch my hand out, while the rest of my family has to go to HIM. (Yes, I live with my family, I am 13)

ever since I switched cat foods on my cat he seems to ignore me, and it really bothers me. I think my cat is doing it on purpose because he has done tis before and he knows it makes me sad, because he has seen my cry myself to sleep a few nights. What are some things I could do to get my cat to like me again?

My fiance wants to get a kitten but I'm afraid he'll scratch up our young son. I mentioned getting it declawed and he lost his mind. I could see if we let the cat go outside it would need them, but he'll be indoors. What should i do??

My cat has a two scratching posts (one vertical, one horizontal) and while he uses them regularly, he still insists on scratching my furniture and carpet runner that is on my stairs. I have tried double sided tape and balloons to deter him. Nothing works! Please recommend a spray that I can try or suggest other ideas. And no, declawing is not an option - too cruel. Thanks!

I just adopted a 4 month old kitten and I was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to clip a kitten's claws without getting clawed up? I have tried just picking up his paw and he gets aggressive. Help
