yeah, i talked to the vet on the phone. they said once a cat loses bodily functions and stops eating, death is pretty much imminent. also...it would cost me $400.00 that i don't have for tests to find out what's wrong and, guess what, he died last night so...that's why i was asking. i was wondering if anyone could give me any hope before i went and blew $400.00. thanks for the lectures. he was a sweet cat. we gave him a good home. he liked his fancy feast. i loved him a lot but, he was a cat. and i'm glad he went quickly.

how old is the cat? is he regularly vet checked? you should take him to the vet immediately. When you are sick don't you go to the doctor??

You didn't mention how old your cat is. If he is old then it may be time to put him to sleep, but not before a vet check up.

Also, if he is an outdoor cat he may of eaten something poisoness and need medicine.

I had much of the same problem with my 14 yr old cat. She just stopped eating and drinking and lost weight for 4 days. I took her to the vet and he took x-rays and found cancer in her lungs. He said there was nothing to do but try to get water down her and some vitamins. We kept her for three weeks and had to put her down.

It was the most hardest decision to make and mostly how empty our house was afterwards.

My advice is don't wait get him to the vet. Doesn't seem it will clear up by itself.

Good luck.

why would you put him down without even trying to make him better by taking him to the vet? how would you like if you had something wrong with you and your family said lets put her down without even finding out what was wrong and if it was treatable...please take the poor little guy to the vet and get him some treatment and you can have your cat back the way he was or give him to someone who will care more about him

Why are you not taking him to the vet NOW??
...and why would you want to put him down when you don't even know what is wrong with him?

only a vet can tell you if it is best to put him down. i would take him there asap and then you and your vet talk it over and decide what is best for him. it wouldnt be right for me or anyone else that answers this question to tell you to put him down.
best wishes

He needs a veterinary evaluation immediately and you and the vet can discuss the issue of euthanasia.

You should have him put down, AND SOON for his own good sense he has an owner like you who will ask that question in stead of having him taken care of .

Of course not.

You must go to a vet and get your cat cured.
