Cats - October 2006

I have a 4 year old female cat name Squeak. She is an inside cat. Freaks out at the thought of going out doors. Everyone is hounding me about getting her fixed. I don't see the reasoning behind it considering she only comes in heat 3 times a year and it only last 4 days tops. She is not on of the annoying cats who howls and makes god awful noises. She is fairly normal with the exception that she wants to cuddle on your feet. Fixing a female cat is a lil more complicated then a male and it is an actual surgery they have to do. I lost one cat after getting her fixed from a staff infection and tho I know that is rare I just don't see the need to put her thur something like that if I dont have to. I have no other cats in the house and I don't plan on getting another cat. I would consider it if it was for health reason or if I did get a male cat but should I stick to my gun and tell them to bugger off because it is MY CAT or I am being unreasonable.

She's nice but feral. We persuaded her into our garage Thrusday night, and we've been feeding her since July. We can't keep her in the house (We have a dog), so we built her a cage large enough for her and her babies. Today she tried to hide behind a table aginst the wall. She's really lazy/tired, and I know she's pregnant because I saw her mating (AND SHE'S HUGE). She had three kittens in a lot across the street in about July. She brought them over for food, and two dissapeared a few weeks later (I think someone took them into their house. They we're tame enough to pet). We know have her and her kitten in seperate cages, but them can hear/smell/see each other. How will I know EXACTLY when she will give birth? I have a blanket over her cage because I heard they like dark places to give birth. Is this true? Her other kitten is 5 months old and she's weaned, but she's was nursing yesterday. Please help me with me cat!

when my girlfreind or daughter stroke my kitten (about 3 months old) he bites them, not really hard, (yet sometimes it is) but still bites them even if there just stroking him nicely. He's not hungry. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The kittens are 7 wks old and still nursing. Mama cat has a flea collar and is an outdoor cat. I don't know how effective treating the mother will be if she's outside most of the time. If i treat the kittens what's the point since they'll most likely get infected by mom over and over again. I'm going to have mama cat spayed as soon as she weans the kittens but for the time being what can I do?

I know it sounds stupid, but Im kind of concerned that my cat doesn't know where her litter box is...can she smell it out or something? What if its on a different floor?

The groomer said we can give it a tiny dose of children's Tylenol...
is that okay to give to a 12 week old kitten that has been coughing a little bit? (we've took him to the vet the other day and the vet didnt really say much about the coughing)

I love my cat Lucy, but she has a pretty gross coat. She sheds a TON and has dandruff. Her fur feels kind of greasy. Other than her coat, she is healthy. What can I do?

her shoe of choice is flip flops, especially my old gross white ones. she doesnt bite them or scratch them up, she just cuddles w/ them.
she's a stray. when we found her she had just had kittens and had abandoned them somewhere, we couldnt find them :(
but she had all these problems bc she was producing too much milk and was still only a year or so old and blah blah...
anyway someone told me she could be mourning her kittens when she cuddles the flip flops bc theyre about the right size (i have small feet)
someone else said that the smell may just remind her of me, she doesnt cuddle w/ my roommates shoes
anyway wondering if anyone has ever heard of this or would know if those are possibilities or if there is even another explination
thanks

My 2 cats have runny eyes. I adopted one of them recently, brought him home, and he gave the cat I already had runny eyes. She (old cat) has been scratching off fur from her neck. She had diarrhea last nite once. Any ideas? They are both up to date on Frontline Plus, and I've treated them both with tetracycline drops, thinking it could be chlamidia. I'm going to go back to the drops and try treating more aggressively (maybe for a month straight) and see if that works. But if anyone has any other suggestions and experience with this, please let me know. I'm too broke at this present time to see a vet, unfortunately, but I thought maybe there'd be somebody out in Yahooland who might have advice. Thanx.
