when looking at the posterior end of a female kitten there will be 2 holes close together. A male will have them further apart & may display some extra tissue around the testicular sacs but the testicals may or may not be obvious. I have been breeding persians for over 15 years - sometimes its hard to tell but usually not

Absolutely right tweetymay and spanky. I have 9 cats and usually have about 2-3 litters of kittens a year, as I sell them at the pet store where I am employed. Telling the sex of a kitten is fairly easy if you know what you are looking for. Again, females have a smaller distance between their two opening, boys are further apart. One girl had mentioned that they cannot be removed from their mom until 8 weeks, but it is actually 6 weeks.

"spanky" gave the perfect answer. You need to lift their tails and look at their bottoms. The space between the "holes" should indicate which are male and which are female.

We have always had cats and have delivered over 10 litters of kittens over the years.

I would be here all day trying to explain it and in the end I would only confuse you (O:

kittens can not leave mommy until they are right around 8 weeks, and sexing younger then that is hard if you are not use to doing it.

at about 10-12 wks old you can spot the difference - in females the orifice is slit-like and in males its round.

Male kittens "holes" are further away than feamles "holes". If they are fluffy you may need to blow on the hair to make it part.
