if your groomer told you to give it tylenol than you need a need groomer never give your pets human meds unless your vet tells you to call your vet up and ask him about the cough when taking your pet to the vet be very up front your kitty life could depend on it even a bit pushy would do. ask him all the question and get anwser and if you feel that your vet is not giveing you answer that you understand you ask them to explain a bit more and if this seems to be a promble with your vet find a new vet

The groomer ought to have his/her license yanked for distributing medical advice, and very INCORRECT medical advice, to boot. The vet doesn't sound much better! That cough could be anything from allergies, to upper respiratory disease, to FIV, etc. Get the poor kitty to a competent vet, and NEVER give tylenol to a cat! There are lots of good books out concerning pet medications. You might want to look for one. Good luck with your kitty! He's depending on you!

What should I avoid?
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any other cold, allergy, pain, or sleep medication. Tylenol (sometimes abbreviated as APAP) is contained in many combination medicines. Taking certain products together can cause you to get too much acetaminophen which can lead to a fatal overdose. Check the label to see if a medicine contains acetaminophen or APAP.
Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of liver damage while taking Tylenol.

Are you trying to kill this kitten? Call the vet back, say you are still concerned, ask about the Tylenol, and ask what you should do and what symptoms to look for. You paid for the vets advice - get it!

I just have to add: NO, NO, NO a thousand times NO.
The groomer is a very irresponsible person to suggest to you that it is OK.
Tylenol, if used more than the dosage suggested on the bottle, or used on a long-term basis say for arthritis has been found to damage human livers. One pill can absolutely destroy a cat's liver within 48 hours.

Don't give your cat human medicines. If your Vet didn't resolve the problem, I would see another Vet, I haven't heard of a cat coughing. Maybe it has something stuck in its throat.

No, Tylenol is not safe for animals. What's it supposed to do for coughing anyway?
