She is my first cat and I've had her since she was 6 wks old. Last night I had to take my dachshund to my moms (we day it's her boyfriend), and since then she'll meow very loud. Could she just miss him. When do cats go in heat? She's up to date on all shots but I haven't had her spayed for some reason-which needs to be done soon anyway. She's strictly an inside cat, if she were in heat wouldn't she try to go outside?

I have 3 cats, two males and 1 female. The female cat since the day we've got her has been very skittish, if you look at her she will immediately get up and run away. Its terrible i feel like she is going to have a heartattack. We've had her from going on 2yrs now and I just feel bad that she wont settle down. I'm just looking for any tips that could help quell her being some jumpy. She is a very affectionate cat and will come up to u be pet. Yet she will bolt for the littliest things. Also anytime I am petting her eventually my oldest male cat will come over and attack/chase her away. Is her being skittish just a result of the male/female pecking order or cats?

She follows me around all the time.. cries at night to be with me.. Cries when I leave for work, and when I return.. When I watch tv she cuddles right up to me.. the problem is, is that I feel bad for her when I leave for long shifts I think she is lonely maybe?

My cat gets all the attention in the world, gets fed enough, and always has fresh water and a clean litterbox, yet- he meows constantly, We were previously watching a female cat, and now the meowing is worse! I'm figuring he's still a bit too young to mate, so I'm just not sure what it is and I don't believe in getting rid of a pet if it's not causing any major problems, but if I don't figure it out- my family will reduce me to doing so...

I intend to get a cat but don't want it to ruin my new carpet or my lfurniture. I know a scratching post helps, but can anyone suggest anything else as well?

There is a stray cat that is trying to get into my apartment and is tearing up my screens. I don't want to hurt it, but it won't go away. I have a cat inside so I need a method that won't hurt her either. Can anyone help? I would prefer a natural home remedy

My neighbour can no longer look after her female cat due to illness. We have fed the cat in the past when she used to go away or was in hospital, so now as she has is no longer capable, the cat is coming round to us for food. Whilst I have no problems in feeding her, now the winter is coming, we are letting the cat stop in the house in the evenings. The problem is that the cat is both urinating and messing in the house. This is cannot put up with. I have never had a cat as a pet before and I do not want to see it put down because no one will care for it.
Is it possible to house train an 8 year old cat and how do I go about it.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

The cat jumps on the railing and looks through the window on the door. I want to be friends with it but my dog scares it off before i do anything. Is it a possibility that its just aggravating my dog? Its an Outside cat.

My other two cats have been vaccinated against FIV. I'm told she has been a stray for about 2 years. I read that the vaccine for FIV will cause a cat to test positive. How do they know if it's a true positive? Also the vet said that it can be transferred thru a shared water bowl but all the websites I've looked at said FIV can only be transferred thru deep bites. The vet told me to keep her in my garage and bring her back for retesting in two weeks, that it's possible that the cat was just recently exposed to FIV and won't actually contract it, but I want to be prepared in case it comes back positive again.

We have an older tabby kitten who has been an only pet since we've had him. We just got a new siamese kitten today, and the tabby just wants to fight him nonstop! He goes for the throat and we're afraid he may try to kill him. He's about at adolescent age and much bigger than the siamese. Any advice on how to get him to be accepting of the new kitten?

Has anyone ever dealt with this or have any info on it? I believe that this is what is going on with my cat. She has pulled out and licked off the fur on her belly and insides of her legs. She's always been a nervous cat... I cannot take her to the vet right now for all the testing to rule out other things. I truly believe it is stress! She has no redness, fleas, mites, bumps, sick acting anything going on.

I have a friend that has adopted a cat and 3 kittens. The kittens were born a couple of weeks ago. When is it appropriate to feed cats solid food? What should the solid food be - regular cat food or something else?
