My cat gets all the attention in the world, gets fed enough, and always has fresh water and a clean litterbox, yet- he meows constantly, We were previously watching a female cat, and now the meowing is worse! I'm figuring he's still a bit too young to mate, so I'm just not sure what it is and I don't believe in getting rid of a pet if it's not causing any major problems, but if I don't figure it out- my family will reduce me to doing so...

Well he wants a female....to mate that is not for company. They reach maturity in about 6-7 months. So chances are 90% that his hormones are causing the problem.Of course there is always the possibility he's in pain.Check for any abnormalities in his normal behavior other than meowing, although he would probably stop eating if he was in such pain that would cause him to meow constantly.Unfortunately there's nothing else to do to make the meowing stop than to take him to a vet and get him neutered. It's best for a cat that lives in the house anyways....Good luck.

You have a un neutered male that is old enough to breed. However he is a male and he is claiming his domain. There is only one way to correct that. Have him neutered unless you plan on breeding. Another reason for his crying is he smells another cat close by, either a female ready to mate or another male that he wants to fight with over the domain or a female. Having a cat neutered will take the main reason he is crying away. You can ask your Vet or read some books on cat behavior from the library...Good luck with your cat...

The easiest solution--GET HIM NEUTERED!!! This will eliminate so many problems you may currently be having or will have in the future. Trust me! First off, your cat is not too young to mate. Female cats, for example, can start having kittens as early as five or six months of age.

Since male cats typically are not very vocal, getting your cat neutered will cut down on his meowing dramatically. Also, if he's being aggressive, neutering will cut down on this also.

Take him to your local vet. You can usually drop him off in the morning and pick him up in the evening after the procedure.

Good luck! And please, please get him fixed. There's no need for him not to be!

Because you were watching a female cat previously, he probably is calling her because of sexual urges. Male cats have been know to father a litter as young as four months. See info below on neutering advantages.

Neuter Your Male Cats

This is the most proactive step. Neutering is a simple surgery with a very quick recovery period. Besides preventing unwanted pregnancies, neutering a male will help mitigate certain problem behavior found in whole males, and it will help prevent certain medical conditions, too.

Neutered cats are less likely to spray strong urine
Neutered cats will lose the urge to fight
Neutered cats will be less likely to try to escape
Neutered cats will not suffer the abscesses from fighting
Neutered cats will be less likely to contract diseases such as FeLV and FIV
Neutered cats will not be subject to testicular cancer
Neutered cats will not likely develop "stud tail," caused by overactive glands in the tail
Neutered cats have a decreased risk of mammary cancer
Basically, you have every reason to neuter your male cat.

He has reached sexual maturity, there may be a female cat outside in heat, and he can detect that.

Neuter your cat, it adds years to your cats life, reduces chances of cancer, and will stop behavior problems like meowing, and spraying (which will probably be happening soon from the sounds of it) I HIGHLY recommend you get the cat neutered BEFORE he starts to spray.

You don't mention the breed. Siamese are known to meow or "talk" loudly and constantly. I would suggest watching his behavior. Is he looking at you when he meows? Is he at the window or at his food dish? Usually my cat meows to communicate something to me. Some cats meow because they want out; if this is the case he should be at the window or at the door.

Get him neutered NOW! As an aside.....some cats just talk more. My tabbies are always complaining about something. or telling on another cat. But your kitty seems to be overdoing it a bit. Before you go mad .....do yourself and him the favor of getting him neutered.

Cats meowing are just in a deep slumber - dreaming cats, basically. The best way to remedy this is to keep him/her at the foot of your bed or closer to you, thus making your cat fell safer and he/she should stop meowing.

Your cat reached sexual maturity months ago. He needs to be neutered for his health and your sanity. He should calm down and be more affectionate.
