No. Your cat probably has been dragging his butt across the floor, which is an indication of his anal glands needing to be squeezed.
Animals don't see sex like we do. They use it to procreate, not for enjoyment.
make an appointment for the vet, they can squeeze the glands and make them stop itching.

Masturbate? No... not exactly... I hesitate in using that word for a cat, but if s/he is getting a pleasurable feeling from rubbing against the carpet, then your cat will continue to do it. Same principle as to why dogs hump seemingly anything - including your own leg.
...and that is my damn serious answer. LOL

my cat does this every time she lays down. but she definitely isnt masturbating. and when she gets cozy and happy while you pet her, she digs her nails into anything in front of her and kneads it, including my arm. cute, but painful. she was taken away from her mom WAY too early, because the crackheads we got her from weren't taking care of her or any of her littermates. she has a lot of those weird cat traits, and she's like 8 or 9 years old. I also had a cat that would masturbate. he would sit with his legs out and lick his privates and rub it with his paws until he.. you know.

I am not sure about female cats, but male cats will hump things. My male cat is 17 years old and still enjoys humping pillows and blankets. He penis does come out and he will rub himself for long periods of time. Its hard to get the cat to stop this behavior if near impossible.

I think that they do. My old cat, Hobo ( god rest his soul) used to rub himself on the ground, and then he would excrete some sort of fluid. It was totally discusting but hey cats need love too.

your cat is scratching.... something.... just leave it be and if it continues often.... if your willing to spend the cash, take it to a vet for it to be anally squeezed.
