Get close to it.
Feel it to see if anything is wrong.
Gently pet it to comfort it.
Stroke it firmly and let it know you are in control.
When you feel it shudder, hug and kiss it.
Give it a towel.
Let it go to sleep.

umm, if you want the hair to look nice, comb it with an old brush or an animal brush after you try it off with a towel. Do not rub too hard. Just rub the body and legs. NOT THE HEAD! If water gets in a cats ears it can cause serious damage.

Dry it with a nice thick terrycloth towel, then keep it indoors until it air dries. Blow dryers are much too frightening for them. Although, if you have a long enough hose, a wet/dry shopvac can be useful. Just put the big noisy part behind a door.

I owned Persian & Calico cats - male and female. I also had a soft towel handy & would gentle dry them off and they let them go, Cats will clean and dry their own fur after that. After they were completly dry I had a brush and would brush them to make sure there hair was not stuck together to cause them problems later on. Mine where declawed because they were strictly house pets. They lived for 15 years, cat years that is.

Feed it a LOT of canned food, and toss in the dryer at a laundromat you DO NOT frequent.

Dry it with a towel, it probably would not like the blow dryer.

soak it with lighter fluid and start it on fire.....But stand back.
Either the heat will dry it off or it will air dry by running so fast.
