her shoe of choice is flip flops, especially my old gross white ones. she doesnt bite them or scratch them up, she just cuddles w/ them.
she's a stray. when we found her she had just had kittens and had abandoned them somewhere, we couldnt find them :(
but she had all these problems bc she was producing too much milk and was still only a year or so old and blah blah...
anyway someone told me she could be mourning her kittens when she cuddles the flip flops bc theyre about the right size (i have small feet)
someone else said that the smell may just remind her of me, she doesnt cuddle w/ my roommates shoes
anyway wondering if anyone has ever heard of this or would know if those are possibilities or if there is even another explination
thanks

My guess is that she like the smell and maybe these particular shoes hold your scent better that others? Very cute anyway.

My cat does this too. Usually to sandles and flip flops. Or to guys smelly shoes that are taken off in the house. We beleive she is putting her scent on them. She probably smells all kinds of scents from outside and needs to get her scent there too.

Cats just do things. She could be using the shoes as kitten substitutes. She also could be attached to them because of you. She also could be using them as a source of info about the outside world. My cat sniffs around the hem of my pants when I come in. I think she's checking where I've been.
Oh, are you getting her fixed?

Cats have all sorts of neurosis which defy explanation and make them such interesting creatures. A certain housemate I had, my cat loved to lay on top of his sneakers (when the sneakers were off the feet). I've also seen cats snuggle up in dropped "drawers" while the human is on the "throne"!

She could just like the smell. My cat "makes love" to my roommate's shoes (i.e. rubbing on them as if they were doused in catnip). She doesn't do it to anyone else's shoes. They all have their own little personalities and live in their own little kitty worlds, we just happen to live in it.

it sounds like your cat loves you! my cat does that to mine too...and occasionally my husband's. I think it's just her showing affection towards you.
