I don't know where you heard that (maybe you got some sort of wife's tale) but I got 3 cats running around (all perfectly healthy) and they lose and grow whiskers all the time. They are just highly sensitive hairs, they are bound to fall off and regrow just like any other hair. I wouldn't worry bout it.

Just on case I was wrong I asked a Vet on-line and here what she had to say:

Cat whiskers do fall out from time to time as a function of normal whisker/hair growth.
As long as the ones that fall out are being replaced by new ones, AND they are all not all falling out at once,
then this all seems normal.

I hope this has helped you.

Cats whiskers have nothing to do with health. Cats use their whiskers as "feelers" so they can maneuver through underbrush, around obstacles and avoid bumping into things. Whiskers fall out and grow back. Nothing to worry about. Good Luck

Cats will "shed" whiskers and grow new ones just like the rest of their hair. Sometimes they will break off from too much rough play, but they will grow back, same with their eyebrow whiskers.

My cats shed their whiskers regularly as they grow new ones.

I occasionally find perfect whiskers that they have shed, laying around.

Wait and see if your cat grows new whiskers to replace the one s/he has lost.

If new ones do not replace the ones that are shed, you may want to ask a vet about it.

i'm unsure if its to decide width yet i'm distinctly beneficial they use their whiskers to envision the temperature of something particularly earlier ingesting or ingesting or entering into something. you would be conscious that in case you provide your cat warm milk they do no longer drink it quickly away they first placed thier whiskers into it! in addition they use it to stability themselves, you will by no skill see a cat with whiskers of diverse sizes except they have been shrink in some form of twist of destiny.

Cats loose whiskers, it's normal. If he looses a bunch at once and has none left on his face...lol...take him to the vet. They mainly use them for balance.
