She's nice but feral. We persuaded her into our garage Thrusday night, and we've been feeding her since July. We can't keep her in the house (We have a dog), so we built her a cage large enough for her and her babies. Today she tried to hide behind a table aginst the wall. She's really lazy/tired, and I know she's pregnant because I saw her mating (AND SHE'S HUGE). She had three kittens in a lot across the street in about July. She brought them over for food, and two dissapeared a few weeks later (I think someone took them into their house. They we're tame enough to pet). We know have her and her kitten in seperate cages, but them can hear/smell/see each other. How will I know EXACTLY when she will give birth? I have a blanket over her cage because I heard they like dark places to give birth. Is this true? Her other kitten is 5 months old and she's weaned, but she's was nursing yesterday. Please help me with me cat!

If you have a vet for your other animal, now would be the time to probably call him/her.
If you plan on keeping the cat as a pet you may also want to decide wither or not you want this cat having more kittens after this litter is born.
If the kitten is already weaned you may want to think about adopting the kitten out or taking it to a local shelter.
If you keep the kitten around the mom cat, then the kittens that are to be born with have to fight to get the food they need and mother cats have sometimes large litters.
Yes, I believe cats likes to give birth in dark areas that are not with heavy traffic. If you have her in an area were a lot of people will be around and she gets out of the home made cage she will more than likely move her kittens to another area.
good luck

You know, the best thing to do is rent a trap, catch her and the 5 month old kitten and get them both spayed NOW!!! A shelter may be able to cover the cost for you. The kittens will be aborted, but that is for the best. She can have FeLV, of other diseases that she can pass on to the kittens. There are already too many kittens in the world without adding more. She is probably already compromised from the last litter and another one to nurse will put added stress on her body. It is not good for her to continue as a kitten machine. She can be spayed and given her vaccines, and wormed so she can worry about herself only. She may always be feral and just need someone to feed her. Maybe her other kitten will too, but at least there will be no more kittens. Her 5 month old will be ready to have a litter pretty soon.
Please call a shelter and see about getting them both fixed!!!!!

I got the impression this was a stray cat and her kitten. Before you get overwhelmed, take the cat and her kitten to the pound. Before you know it the kittens will have kittens and you will be overrun with kittens and no money for food to feed them, to get them all neutered, and places for them and you can't keep them in cages forever. Get out from under the problem now.

Years ago my then bf brought his prego cat to live with us and with no extra treatment she had her kittens in the closet all by herself while we were out at a park. So you needn't count the minutes worrying when she will have them..it just happens, and I'm sure she wants some privacy. Cause if any of the kittens are ill and she eats them that will gross you out.

Considering you are going thur all this trouble for a stray cat might consider getting her fixed after she has this litter of kittens. I know some vets will give you a discount if it is a stray or might consider taking her to the humane society.
I think taking her to the humane society is the best option you have ..

She would desire to be fed canned and dry chow it is made for kittens. This has a extra robust protein and fat content cloth, which she will desire for a healthful being pregnant and healthful kittens. If she would not get carry of adequate food, her physique will rob itself to grant what the fetuses desire, and he or she would be in destructive condition whilst giving delivery. proceed feeding her this food till the kittens are weaned. It takes food to make food, and whilst she is nursing she will desire the extra energy to produce milk. I provide pregnant cats all they desire to eat. They get canned food thrice an afternoon, and there is dry chow out each and every of the time. With the present disaster over tainted food, you may sense extra well-off with a vet formulation, in spite of the undeniable fact that to my know-how, there have been no comments in the breeding community over Purina professional Plan Kitten, Iams Kitten or the Royal Canin Kitten formulation.

cats instincts guide them through birth....she will choose when and where she has her kittens...i would find a home for the 5 month old and once she has her kittens i would take her and the kittens after about 3 weeks to a non kill animal shelter..
