Cats - October 2006

I found a little blood (a drop or two) on the floor by the kitty litter box. I checked my cat's butts to see if maybe I could tell who it was, but I couldn't. They all are acting normal and eat regularly, but this is the second or third time this has happened. Does anyone know what the cause of this might be?

I will take them to the vet as soon as I can, but I want to know what I might expect before I get there and if this might be serious. They are on a constant diet of Iams Weight Control (Because one is too heavy and needs to lose weight) and they are indoor-only.

Thank you for your help?

What are cats addicted to?

He's a big lad, 10 years old and always been a manic cuddles bunny. He's got more demanding now and is spending every waking moment in my lap. He likes to be stroked - especially around his head and purrs like the proverbial outboard when I do this, but...

Just lately he's taken to biting the palm of my hand - not in a vicious manner, but quite hard, purring like mad with his eyes all 'meaningful (sorry, but I can't describe it any other way)

Any deas what's going on?

How long and how much does it take to build a 10ft x 6ft x 6ft high (or slightly bigger) wire-mesh and wood post cat enclosure? Where can I find free plans for such a project?

(Ok first of all, I want to start off by saying that she has been to the vet many times and still isn't better.)

I rescued a Bengal cat from a breeder and she is sick. She coughs and sneezes and always has snot dripping from her nose. My vet has tried at least 4 different antibiotics on her and she sometimes seems like she's getting better, then gets worse again especially when the weather starts turning cold. I don't know what else to do for her, she's now an only cat, so I don't have to worry about her making anyone else sick. She's about a year and a half old.

The other day, my husband ACCIDENTALLY closed up the couch bed with my kitten still in the cubbyhole in the couch. That night, I found the kitten in the litter box with his head in the litter and looked up and had litter all over his face. I wiped it off and his nose was bleeding. Now, he seems to be acting fine, but meowing a lot more than usual. Do you think he's ok?

Ok he is a 7 yr old neutered male cat. He wedged himself out of a screen yesterday. He is a 100% indoor cat. I am trying to bait him with his favorite wet food (ussually just a treat). I have called and left my name with the area humane society. Any other ideas?

We have a two-year blind cat that we adopted when she was just two weeks old. Since my husband and I are away from home for most of the day, she gets quitely lonely especially because of her disability.

We are thinking of adopting another blind kitten (for her to play and socialize with) but we are afraid that it might not work as she is a bit of an agressive cat and she isn't very kind with others. We couldn't get her a normal kitten since we tried that a year ago and it didn't work out.. hissing would never stop. And besides, a normal kitten with eye sight would have a superior advantage and we don't want our resident cat to feel a bit intimidated. And so now, we are debating as to whether a blind kitten would be a good idea...

Any ideas, suggestions are welcome.. Thanks in advance

i kindly request you to see my question regarding an advice which i got from you. Please read "Please i need an expert's advice" under my questions.
there are two place where the dogs have bitten him badly which was about one inches deep. one near under the right side back leg and one at the top of the abdomen. i am applying the cream regularly and its about to cure. now the problem is my cat's backside right leg has bulged and he is not able to walk properly. i suppose it should be the bad pus or the unnecessary liquid which has made his leg bulged. what kind of home remedy should i give before taking it to the vet. one more thing is that the other wound on the top of the abdomen near the stomach is curing now. earlier it was bulged. i dipped a cloth in hot water and gently pressed on the wound. every time i do that , after some time i could see the bad liquid coming out of the wound. what i did is right or wrong? i did that for the other wound but in vain.please help

My sister is very sick and my family and I have to travel several hours to get there. We will be staying as long as needed. I have 3 month old kittens, and due to the fact that I dont know how long we will be gone, I have no choice but to take them with us. I put them in a cat carrier the other day and took them for a short drive but they freaked out. My vet prescribed benadryl for my dog once for car sickness, but I need to know if its safe for kittens, and if it is then how many milligrams do i give. Thanx
