That is very normal, she just needs a little help. There are several foods and treats for this and products that they lick to help lubricate so the hairball will come out. I have heard of putting some Vaseline on the roof of their mouth too.

Owning three cats that groom constantly I can tell you to try hairball remedy. There are also hairball treats and hairball formulated cat foods on the market. The information is on the labels and any brand will do, just use the same brand as you already do. It will be right on the front of the package and is available where you buy your pet food. You may have to try several kinds to find one she will take (you know how finicky cats are!!!) So buy small packages first.
She will either pass the ball or throw it up.

I have a long haired cat, and this is a trick that my mother used, rub a decent amount of vaseline on the top part of her front paws and it helps, I dont know why, but thats what I do for mine.

You can purchase hairball medicine at any store that sells pet care products. It will help reduce and pass hairballs.
