my bourke died. i didn't have him very long. it was sad. i just got a new budgie from the pet store today.

but i was just wondering if there was a difference between the two so i know what to expect...i know budgies are slightly smaller birds so just wondering if their life spans are shorter then?

and behaviors and anything else you would know etc.

We have been giving our parakeets some mites and lice spray to help him, and it has been working...but he is still itching. There are a lot of bald spots on his body and there is no nasal or eye discharge. Is he sick, and does he need a vet?

My baby hamsters are 11 days old now and they have grown some fur. I heard that once they grow fur, their mom does not eat them. But she ate two of the babies today and they all seemed to be in perfect condition.. What are some reasons that she may have killed them?

when watching big brother live at like 12:30 am..why do they cut out what the housemates are saying and play recordings of birds singing and planes flying past?it happens every 7min or so

For about a week our yellow parakeet started falling off his perch. His legs seem very weak. His droppings are sort of loose. Actually the droppings cling to his rear and dry. We have to carefully cleanse him every other day or so. He stays huddled in the bottom of his cage and sleeps most of the time. His appetite remains good, in fact maybe better than usual. He eats nutriberries, which are mostly seeds, and avicakes, which are also mostly seeds. When he is well, he will eat peas, corn,brocolli, bread. Lately he doesn't eat his veggies very well. I would say his legs seem like they are paralyzed and very weak. He tries to walk, but he just kind of flops along. I read that if a bird has paralysis give him Vitamin E, so we have been putting a drop or two of Vitamin E on some spray millet and he eats it very well.
I don't like to take him to a vet because it might stress him out and I'm not sure there is anything to be done for him. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks

I have 3 parakeets, and when they want food or water, they chirp real loud. well, they have a full dish of food, and and they have fresh water. they get loud when they're scared, or when they are fighting. is there anything else that would make them get real loud? i can't let them out, b/c they don't have their wings clipped, and they're not exactly human friendly. and i'm scared my dog will eat them when they hit the floor.

And what could i do, or try, to keep them more quiet? i don't want them to be totally quiet, i mean i like their soft chirping. but when they start screeching, and being really loud, is when i can't handle it. it hurts my ears, and it drives me nuts!!

Is it possible for a wild crow to learn to speak english? It is possible for them to speak 3 languages? I ask becuase my co-worker was talling a story about how she used to see this crow at her old job and he would speak 3 languages and had "quite a vocabulary".

My cockatiel is 14 months old. The other day I accidentally closed the door with him sitting on top of it, and his whole crown was pulled out by the roots. He seems fine now. He looks a little funny. Will his crown grow back when he molts again, or will he always be bald?
