I have an unmated female that laid 1 egg 5 days ago. I know she laid for her previous owner, so this is not her first egg. She shows no signs of distress or egg binding and has not started to sit on this lone egg.(I know they usually don't start that until 2-3 eggs have been laid) I've watched her carefully but I haven't been able to find any info on the possibility of a tiel just laying 1 egg. I'd love to hear from anyone that's had this happen with their tiel. I can tell from lack of online info that this uncommon. Just want to know if it's possible.

I recently saw a bird in my yard that I could not identify. The bird was the size of a Pidgeon...with a gray/brown head, bright red cheeks and a bright white chest with black spots. The back and tail were gray/brown with darker brown spotting...and the bird made a strange screeling sound, somewhat like a hawks cry. I tried to snap a picture but the darn thing flew off ! Any ideas about what it might be ?

We have a male cockatiel. We got him at 4 weeks old (he was not taken care of). I got him to eat from my hand etc. He really took up with my son but now hates all of us! He will not let us pet him and tries to chase us down to bite us. If we even walk near his cage he will come running trying to bite. He will not even let my son near him anymore. He talks to his mirror (I have tried taking it away) all the time and seems to think it is another bird. When I take it away hopeing his behavior will improve it doesnt. Then he just squawks really loud and doesn't stop. He used to be so friendly. Will he ever get better again? My kids are now afraid of him and I'm thinking of giving him away. Thanks for any help

My birds are inside at night and free range during the day. They lay at all times but production has been down recently. i have seen evidence of rats - one dead just outside barn after putting poison down outside barn where chickens can't get it. I'm sure there are more.

I have a question for Zawni2004. I went into the catagory of "birds" hoping I could find an answer as to why I can't get my Quaker Parrot to stop biting. I have raised, cockatiels, parakeets, and bred them of course. A friend of mine found this parrot in her backyard, After putting an ad in the lost and found, no one claimed it and she asked me if I would take it, but warned that he bit. I bought books on this bird, asked the vet and not one seems to know how to stop this bird from biting. I have a sign on the bottom of his cage that says "I Bite". so people won't stick their fingers near him. I love him, he talks, laughs, he is so funny. When he tries to bite me, I yell "no bites" he walks away, but still repeats this behavior. So Zawni, did your Quaker bite? If so, did you get him to stop or what. Thanks to anyone who can help

We've recently been given a wild Rainbow Lorikeet (not too sure of age) and we just want to know the best way to have it feel secure and safe and not be scared every time we go near him/her. Atm he screeches when we go near it. Its only been 4 days since we've brought it home. Should we be waiting longer? Thankyou...

2 ringnecked doves, one quite old and feeble, beak is crossed and should probably be trimmed? 2 budgies, 1 cockateil, 1 lovebird. It is my understanding that some of these birds are not really compatible, but they've been together 2 years, and seem to get along ok. They have been fed only wild bird seed, doesn't seem right to me. Can I put a potted tree in with them, instead of dead branches? Only the doves are tame, can I tame the others? I want to do right by these guys but they are not dogs or cats .......I don't even know what I don't know at this point!

I was eating an orange tonight and I was wondering if I could give my budgie a piece of orange peel. Naturally I didn't give it to her until I was sure if it was safe.
