The 4th photo down on this page has a Lovebird and a Cockatiel together, you can see the size difference:

They use the same size cages.

Like another person said, they have different body types. Lovebirds are stockier and have larger heads, but shorter tails. I would say that lovebirds are slightly smaller, but they are pretty close to the same size, overall. A lovebird can live in a 'standard' cockatiel cage, but those cages are *actually* not the ideal size for either bird (lovebird or cockatiel)--they are the bare minimum. If you can't afford a larger cage, be sure to give your lovebird plenty of playtime outside of the cage, and/or get a little tabletop playgym so they aren't stuck behind bars so often. Good luck with your new addition :)

Lucky you :)

As a rule with birds, the bigger the cage the better, no matter what type of bird you are get.

A cockatiel sized cage would be ok for a love bird but they are very active birds so you will need to make sure it gets a lot of time flying and playing out of the cage as well.

God luck!

I'm sure the lovebird will be fine. The cockatiel is larger than a lovebird; about the size of a parakeet.

They have different shapes. Cockatiels are a bit taller, while lovebirds are compact and a bit stocky. A lovebird would do fine in a cockatiel cage.
Be sure that lovebird is truly hand raised and tame. Those little creatures belie their name. They are some of the fiercest, bitingest, unloving little birds you can have, especially once their hormones kick in!!

They are smaller. They need to have enough room to flap, so I am sure a cockatiel cage is fine. As long as the bars aren't spaced farther than 3/4" you are OK.

A cockatiel is a little bit bigger, it will fit in a cocktiel cage, but it might(not much chance of it) squeeze out of the cage. It's like 0.5 percent chance that it will squeeze through. It would work.
