You should get a separate cage. Don't take a chance putting them together. The cockateil might attack the parakeet.

You don't want to throw them in together all at once, unless they are both babies, or very young. The two will get along fine, but you need to let them play outside somewhere, if only on top of the cage!! Then make sure you leave the cage door open, so if one is too aggressive, the other one can get away!! Carefully watch them the first couple of days for over-aggression, on either's part. They should make friends very quickly, and will like each other's company. Almost all birds are flock-oriented, and live together in the wild in harmony, just be careful at first___Birdman

first introduce them slowly like all animals having another thing in there terrritory make them mad .put the parekeet on the cage and see how your cocktail reacts if it tries to attack him through the bars take him away fast . try a least 2 times each day and if the cocktail gets used to him let them play together outside te cage and if it works putt them in the same cage together but you might want to watch them for at leasr 48 hours.

You can try it and see. I have kept a parakeet and cockatiel together for years. It depends on the temperaments of the birds. Parakeets tend to be more aggressive than cockatiels, but some cockatiels are aggressive too. So it doesn't always work out.
Use your judgment. You can put them together if they seem calm around each other, and watch them a while to make sure they don't fight too much. Or you can keep them in the same room a while before putting them together.
They can eat the same food.

Depends on the aggressiveness of the Cockatiel. Most books and experts will strongly warn against it, as the Cockatiel will almost certainly kill the Parakeet. However, I have one of each who live in the same cage, and the Parakeet is the bully (not violently so).

How do they get along outside the cages, maybe you could seperate a bigger cage with chicken wire and set up a second door if there isn't one already on the bigger cage, I am assuming this cage is big enough for both of them.

You can read up on it but if you call a pet shop where you purchase their food and toys!! They love them don't they, they will help you if they can good luck.

That depends on the temperment of both. The should be introduced out side the cage and SLOWY be let to get to know each other. It can be done but I would recmmend against it.

i would recommend getting another cage for the parakeet.

the cockatiel might get rough and hurt the parakeet because cockatiels are larger and have stronger beaks.
