When I first got him, he wouldn't drink from a regular bird water bottle so I bought him a water bowl. I would change it every few days and it was fine, but all of a sudden he decides to try to eat over top of it or something and drops the food in the water, it dissolves and there goes the water. I could deal with it except for the fact that it smells like puke when I clean it out. Yuck!

I just came home and found my zebra finches nest on the bottom of the cage and the four eggs on the floor of the cage. Only one was cracked so I threw it away and put the others back in the nest and put the nest back up. The longest they could have been left on the bottom is like two hours. Is that too long to go with out being sat on? Also, the parents are still hopping around on the bottom looking around. Will they take the eggs back after this happened? Will they know one is missing?

I've had him for 12 1/2 years and he's 13 years old. He used to be nice and sweet, but he's gotten very territorial about his cage. I know you have to make them step up, but if I keep my hand in front of him to step, he nails me. I can tell when he wants to step up, but when he hesitates, I stop trying. I do not pull my hand away when he's ready to step. I don't want to create an impression that he can't trust me, but when he won't step up on the first try, I wait and try again later. He can be very sweet, but only when he wants to. It's driving me crazy that he rules me instead of me ruling him!

Can God use parrots for the purposes of affecting man's warfare?
Yes! Here's how:
Quote-
"Where the (Imperial Japanese Army-1942) officers tended to use exhortations and promises to keep the men moving, the NCO's within Sawa's company relied on their sharp tongues and well-placed blows to drive their charges forward. Their exhortations had become so pervasive that the parrots perched in the trees above began to mimic the bellowing human taskmasters below. "Hey! Private! Keep moving!" echoed through the jungle on the ground and from above. While some thought it was funny, no one laughed when the annoying birds screeched out another common phrase, "Hikoki!" ["Enemy Planes!"]. It did not matter what the source was, this fearful warning sent officer and enlisted alike diving for the nearest cover, a fact that only added to the misery of all concerned and further slowed their advance."
{At the time, they were marching through the Guadalcanal jungle to meet their foes, the U.S. Marines

I have two parakeets and I see that they have laid only one egg so far (till Sep 17th). I read in other parakeet breeding sites that they lay one egg each until have a clutch of 4 to 6 etc everyday. It is two days already since the first egg I haven't seen another egg till. After the first egg itself the mommy bird is spending a lot of time inside her nest. This is her first time egg laying as well!. She comes out of her nest only occasionally.

Is this normal behaviour for first time egg layers to just lay one egg and stop laying more eggs for a while?

Will she lay more eggs later?

Do they sit on the first egg itself generally?

I have a 10 month old male budgie who speaks English. He says about a dozen phrases, like "Whatcha doin'?" "Tell me story" and "What a pretty bird". Some phrases he uses in context, as in "bye bye" or "good morning". He is a little bit difficult to understand, and he sounds *absolutely* nothing like any of the budgie recordings that I have been able to find online. I am, in fact, mostly convinced by my bird that many online sites are hoaxes.
Does anyone know of a reliable site with budgie recordings (I thought my bird my enjoy listening).
Thanks.

I would like to be able to have her back in the palm of my hand and my fingers around her front. She will step up on to my finger with no problem and that took almost a year. I'd like to be able to do this so that visits to the vet will be easyer and less stress on the vet, myself and Belle (my bird). If you know what to do please help.
