Unless you had a doctor tell you that you caught it from your bird, I would get a reality check. I have heard of many animals carrying herpes, cats the biggest one since all of them have it...it's called feline conjunctivitis...but herpes DOES NOT travel interspecies. You had to have caught it from a partner. Even if you are not with someone now, or are and they don't have it, then you could have easily caught it from a previous partner. It typically takes a while for it to show up, and something usually has to trigger its flar ups. You should go to the doctor for treatment options for the symptions, but herpes is an incurable virus, so you are just going to have to live with your consequences. And if some doctor does tell you that you got it from the bird, first of all post it on here, cause I'd sure like to know...lol, but next, take the bird to the doctor, cause then he needs help. But right now...stop blaming the bird, and go to the doctor.

It is not possible to catch herpes from a parakeet. Herpes is not an avian virus.

I doubt you have a Herpes Virus from your Parakeet!! There IS, believe it or not,a Herpes Virus that birds (Poultry) DO get, which is called Mareks and is a herpes virus, spread mainly on bird dander (so can spread through air, on clothing, shoes, hands etc).It is spread from bird to bird,NOT bird to human!!!!

Is that a documented statement from a Medical Doctor? I raise Cockatiels and 1 finch, and in my 17 years of doing so, I have never heared of such a thing. I'd love to get a responce from you informing me of results of your follow-up visits to this Doctor.

Oh don't be so stupid. Herpes is NOT just a genital STD...a freakin COLD SORE is Herpes. But, nonetheless, you did not catch it from a bird, whether its genital or cold sore herpes. THAT is a fact.

NO YOU DIDNT, herpes can only be caught from a partner you have sex with. Birds dont carry these type of problems. DONT BLAME YOUR BIRD, BLAME YOURSELF FOR BEING NASTY!
