I have two parakeets and I just found out that one of them is a boy, when i thought he was girl. I named "him" at first Ashley, now what should I change his name to? Tip: What would be a good boy name for a bird?

I have just bought a bird feeder from Menards, and I put it in my tree that is right by my back porch. It has been 2 days, and I have not seen the birds eat from it at all! Is it because they do not know its there or do they not like the food (Wild Cardinal food) ? How can I get the little ones to know it is there?

Sarabie, my 3 year old cockatiel, a very nice one(He can draw blood if he's trying to defend soemthing)
And, I am trying to train him. I ahven't even thought him the Step-Up command.
I will put my hand and nudge to his cest, but he thinks I want to rub his neck...
He'll jsut stand there with his head down, not movving as if he's dead; jsut waiting for me to pet him. Is there any way I can stop him from doing this?

I have a few month old green cheeked conure that we bought at a pet store.
he's been fine up until now, we feed him pallets and seeds and fresh fruits and sometimes vegetables(he doesn’t like them too much) Recently though he began to pluck his feathers, and some might be falling out, I found one of his long tail feathers on the floor. His beak looks almost like its cracked like it as an overlap that growing underneath. I don’t know what’s wrong. He’s still supposed to grow an inch or two, could this be the reason, or could he be sick or could it be that he’s not getting enough vitamins, minerals like calcium?

Is there something special to Help a cockatoo get his feathers back? He was kept in a small cage with only food and water and pulled almost al his feathers out. Since he became mine I got him a large corner cage with plenty of toys. His chest and stomach feathers are filling in good but his back and neck still have very little growth.
Any answers or ideas? Thanks

I have been cleaning up my duck pond, and the submersible electric pump I have used to empty it so far really doesn't like the sludge that is left, and stops flowing.
Has anyone any suggestions for removing the rest of the water and sludge before refilling it? I suspect I will just have to put poly bags on my feet, go paddling and bail it out, but if there is an easier way suggestions are welcome.
The pond is about 3 metres by 2 meters, and about 18 inches deep. It is lined with a vinyl liner, so I have to be careful not to puncture it.

Just wondering whether it would be possible for a worm (which takes a long time to die anyway) to still be alive within a bird's digestive system. To this end, if it were still alive and the bird happened to die (say, by choking to death on said worm) could the worm re-emerge victorious from the gullet of the dead bird? I await your answers.

Help my pionus parrot is pretty well potty trained but he tries to go all the time now. I trained him to go on the play pen when he's out of the cage by praising him and now he is constantly trying to go, even when he doesn't need to. He strains and I feel so bad. I'd like him to stop being to neurotic about pooping and just go when he needs to. I have tried to cut the praise when he does go as I don't wish to encourage this behavior. Any suggestions? Do I need to be concerned about this? Knowledgable bird lovers answer only please and thank you.

Once, a few months ago, I was working in the yard and a nearby crow was squawking, making a lot of noise. Just playing around, I started talking to him in a friendly tone. To my amazement the crow flew down and landed on top of a 6-foot fence just out of arm's reach. I kept talking to it and it kept listening and looking at me, turning its head from side to side. I left briefly to go in the house to get some food for it as a treat, but by the time I got back, it had flown away. For it to do this, I assume that someone must have at least tamed it to some extent.

I was so thrilled by this that ever since I've talked to the crows around my house (there are plenty of them) hoping that it will happen again, but it hasn't. I'm sure that my neighbors must think that I'm crazy by now. :)

What I'm asking for here are tricks I might use to tame one of these wild crows in the same way. I don't want to make it a pet; just to get it to come to me for treats and not be afraid.
