I have just bought a bird feeder from Menards, and I put it in my tree that is right by my back porch. It has been 2 days, and I have not seen the birds eat from it at all! Is it because they do not know its there or do they not like the food (Wild Cardinal food) ? How can I get the little ones to know it is there?

There are many answers with many questions, here are some.
1. Make sure you have an open envierment, because if you don't how are they suppose to find it.
2.Be aware that there shouldn't be anything living (cats, dogs) or they will get scared and leave before you know it!
3.Make sure you have seen the type of bird on your tree or porch because it is really important to give it the right thing. Other foods could be be poison for them.
There are other answers to this, but you should buy wild bird books, that makes it more easy and more fun! Happy bird watching :->

Try putting some food on the ground to attract some ground feeders. Some will eat from a feeders as well. A type of feed all kinds of birds love (but a bit upper priced) is "nut 'n' berry." Birds really love it! It may just take a little more time for the birds to find the feeder. Be patient and enjoy.

You may have the wrong food in it. You need to get a "blend" of seeds for all birds. I've had one for a few years and put in a blend from WalMart. It's expensive and the birds empty it in about a day and a half. I buy it in the 40lb bag for $8. It is called Morning Song Wild Bird Food. They love it!!! Morning doves all of em!!!! Just plain corn won't work. I put it out and they turned their noses up at it. The squirrels may like it!!!!

Even FDR mentioned that welfare classes could have "narcotic consequences." I have no problem assisting people who're relatively down on their success in spite of attempting to do the right ingredient. It was that communities and church homes would bypass around the hat. And contained in the approach they might help those they felt deserved it, yet no longer people who have been lazy or attempting to get something for no longer something. after all, all human beings knew all human beings contained in the church. Now, the left derides prepared faith and particularly needs to empower their very own political type via springing up a extensive forms and a subculture of dependency. sure, the chicken feeders at the instant are not working anymore. we choose a clean plan.

Is it too close to your house? I can't get birds to come near my house so I put my feeder and a house in a tree in the front yard. I sprinkled some food on the ground to get their attention and it seemed to work.

Maybe try that?

you may not attract a lot of birds with wild cardinal food, it's kinda specific for cardinals or jays and other birds don't get along with them. if you try cracked corn you should draw just about every bird in the area.

Do you have dogs or cats that could be scaring them away? Try turning the hose on a low spray. Cardinals love showering and seem to find my hose when it's on if I retreat into the house. Just don't get their food wet... it will mold.
Good luck and enjoy!

Birds won't go to feeds if cats are around. If the feeder is in plain sight, they'll try it out.
