I am writing a story and I was just curious how long it takes, or if there are any smaller species of iguanas. Thanks!

I was reading about them on Wikipedia, and then came across the 'Fancy Rat' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fancy_rat) which looks 100% like a Mouse.

So, what's the difference?

I have a 5 year old female Boxer. I have her in the house most of the time because if I let her out into my yard that has a 5 foot chainlink fence, she looks to exploit ANY weak spot to get under the fence and gets out. Well of course I don't want my dog getting out, and running off because I have to catch up to her with the car, since she runs so fast, and hasn't been around us long enough (we got her at a shelter about a week ago) to be trained to come back when called, I'm working on that, presently. I'm wondering about the invisible fence idea... if I place the flags around the bottom of my chainlink fence, will it keep her from getting out. I want to use it for a month or so, and then maybe keep the collar on her and disarm the system just as a reminder to her that she belongs in the yard. With such an active dog, she can't be kept in the house all the time. If it's warm outside, I want her to be able to enjoy the outdoors between walks, instead of being in the house all day. Help

My other cat is still kind of overweight, just my one cat is getting skinny.

I bought a Hartz purple monkey dog toy from wal-mart about a year or two ago for my puppy and she absolutely loved it...when u squeeze it, it would make a noise like a screaming monkey and she just went crazy over that toy. But now i can't find it anywhere, i found a frog one like it that 'ribbits' but she's just not as into it as she was the monkey. thanx for your answers!

I'm a total newbie trying to get started and I'm not sure where to get them. I would like to find a reliable source with the best price, of course, as I am feeding a Great Dane. Additional tips, recipes, etc. are welcomed. Thank you, BARFers!

I wrote a few months ago distressed that one of the members in my mastiff group has a young mastiff with hip displasia. He was sold as a show dog to the tune of 2000. This is not an unusal price for a mastiff pup of show quality but now he has been diagnosed with hip displasia. The contract stated that in the event of hip displasia a full refund would be issues with medical proof of the displasia and spay or neuter. The breeder has hemmed and hawed and finally said he would agree to heed the contract after she sent him a letter a lawyer friend drafted for her but unfortunately, the check came and is for 500. Now what should she do? Breeders - how does she deal with this and what are your opinions on how to come to a resolution quickly and calmly. She has scheduled the hip surgery for January and he should be fine but the surgery itself is 3000.... Thanks in advance.

Thanks to all who answered my earlier question concerning my lab vomiting. His blood test revealed high levels of urea. The vet says that makes him vomit up all of his food and water.
The K/D prescribed food is to be fed to him a little at a time so hopefully he will be able to keep it down. He desperately needs to gain weight. Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the urea and not the dog?

Ok, so yesterday I started my first day of "training" with my new horse. I board him and he was already antsy about all of the new things (barn cats, new horses etc.) and when I took him into the large indoor arena he decided that it would be a good idea to start yanking and pulling. (I just had him in a halter and was holding onto his attached lead rope) I didnt think it was really that big of a deal, until he started pulling me around in circles. So I put him back into his stall.

**He's ok in the aisle leading to his stall, but when we got to the arena he started misbehaving. I think someone more experienced wouldnt have even noticed but Im 13 and still getting over my fear of him. I am always afraid he'll spook and take off dragging me, or kick me. He's a very afraid horse so he overreacts to EVERYTHING, I really dont know what to do!**

What should I do to correct this issue? Or perhaps just make it so it doesnt frighten ME anymore and I could just pass it off as nothing?

Idk. I was bored and that question just kinda popped into my head. I mean who would think to put laws against it? So is it legal?

Any advice on getting my 17month old chihuahua to use a cage so he will be safe while we go out? I know we should have done this earlier ! but Im afraid we have spoilt him by always one of us being with him if we cant take him ,one of us stays at home, we have tried leaving him but he jumps up and down to see out of the doors and is really exhuasted when we come home, so we have bought a cage and would like to know the best way to get him used to it.

My African Grey will only eat a few teaspoons of the mixture I give him. At this point he prefers for me to mush fruit and hand feed him that. After he is done eating all he wants to do is lay on me and go to sleep. He makes very strange noises and whistles when hes happy. I just want to make sure I am treating him right

So, I was trying to figure out why in "dogs" some really good answers got thumbs downs, when it came to me...

People that don't realize their pet dog is actually a DOG, get offended when someone tells them that. (like in the 80's when it used to be mean to call a person a dog) they get offended and throw out the downs and report flags claiming "insult to other members".

What do you think? Am i giving them too much credit? Are their unsocialized, out of control, anxiety from lack of being a dog canines actually more intellegent than them?

My little cavalier king charles absolutely adores playing with balloons, but of course they burst within 5 minutes. Does anyone know of any balloons that are tougher to burst or something similar? I bought her a beach ball but she isn't keen, as she likes to bounce the balloon in the air on her nose! Any ideas gratefully received as it is costing me a fortune in balloons!

He wants to train it in shutzhund.... I'm not exatcly sure how I feel about it... The puppy is about 5 months old.. .and has an excellent temperament, I don't want that to change. He says shutzhund improves the dogs behavior, and makes it listen better.... I just don't want him to become mean... there are certain parts in shutzhund that make me worry....if you've had experience with it... and can enlighten me... and lift my worry I'd appreciate it.

I have questions about my seven month old kitten:
1. is it okay to spank your cat?if no, then why?
2. How do you tame your cat so that it comes to you if you call his/her name?
3How do you make a cat a outside cat?how you make him/her come back to the house?
4hOW YOU TRAIN A CAT TO NOT RUN OUTSIDE(my cat runs out every time we open the door, and she knows when we try to catch her and runs away from our reach?

I've searched questions on this and none have really nailed it down. My cat for the last 3 days has been pretending to use the bathroom but nothing comes out. He'll go in the litter, bury it, walk out and circle back to "use the bathroom" again only he just goes through the motions as nothing comes out. I don't get it, he's done this for 2 hours straight once. Out of these times that I observed this he layed down in the litter only breifly but this is strange behavior for him. Could it be a UTI?
