I bought Jasmine 3 1/2 weeks ago and she started sneezing badly on the 700 mile trip back home. I took her to our Vet as soon as we got home, she was given a shot, Clavamox pills, and medicine to put on her skin for ringworm. She also had fleas so he had me put her on Revolution. I took her back 5 days later as she wasn't getting any better, they gave me Bayquil pills and gave her a different shot called Tylan. I then took her back for a recheck 4 days later and was given more Clavamox. Medicine is done and she is still sneezing bloody mucus and the ringworm seems to not be going away either? Does anyone have any suggestions for me, I don't know what else to do.

What could have caused this?
Did he spontaneously combust?
I've heard this can happen in humans but never heard of it happening to a lizard.

I live in a 4 bedroom apartment with 3 other people and we have an adorable tuxedo cat. My problem is that he's incredibly aggressive. Not in a territorial or "danger" sense, but in a "you're playing WAYYY too rough" sense, and he'll bite and claw for play, and not realize he's doing it way too hard and make us bleed. I've tried spraying him with water, bopping him on the nose, and putting him in the closet when he does it as punishment, but it just doesn't stick. I've built a 3 level "cat condo" for him to expel energy on, and he does and loves it, but he STILL bites and claws.

I'm worried because if this keeps up, I'm going to have to give him up. What can I do to make this behavior STOP?

He's had his shots and is fixed.

I have a Red Heeler, aged 2, and he acts aggressive to people he doesn't know. He jumps, barks and growls at them, and they get very frightened. My husband won't put him in obedience school, and whenever my daughters friends come over, they either have to stay in her room, or he has to be locked up. My mom is coming to visit, and I'm afraid Trigger (The Dog) will scare her! We've tried everything to get him used to people, but it doesn't work. Please help me!!!

She is medium sized, black with white and gold, named Nipsy. She's a border collie mix, smart, sweet, friendly. She dug under the fence and lost her collar. She's done this before and we thought we had secured the back yard. In the past we would find her within minutes or a few hours. I'm really worried. We've put up over 300 flyers, gone to 3 animal shelters 2x/week, posted in 3 newspapers and about 6 or 7 websites, and have talked to our neighbors....She's so friendly I am thinking maybe she is with another family. We are offering a reward and looking into eletric fences. The problem is she gets out of her harness/collars......What else can I do to find her???

Would you like to be surprised with a puppy for CHRISTMAS?

2007-12-01 18:17:38 · 31 answers · asked by Just Mel 2 in Dogs

Okay I love Animals/Pets more than most people. And was so excited to know that the man i love is a Pet lover too.And thought nothing of him moving in with his Boyz.
Now it has been two weeks living together and his Beautiful dogs are with me all day.
I feel that they are testing me and they sense my fear a little because I had to lock my self in the bathroom after Boss the more scary of the two Growled at me and looked as though he was going to bite me.
All I told him down when he stood up on the table and tried to snatch my lunch sandwich. He immediatly challenged me and I stood up to seem taller and he barked growl at me, and as soon as I got close to the door he lunged for me but I shut the door.

I have told my boyfriend what happened.
But also told him that I probably set him off.
But i am so scared too be left with Boss & Hugo.
What can I do to stop feeling scared. And get them to respect me?
When my boyfriend is here they are way more submissive.I try to spoil them.

mine have things to chew , a wheel to run on, little hideaways, tubes to crawl through and each other to interact with ,plus i take them out every day and let them run around on the desk and me, is this a good enough life for a rodent? wouldnt they get bored of those things or is that all they do naturally anyway?

I currently own a couple reticulated pythons. I have water bowls in their cages but I am looking for something that looks a little more natural. I need them to be good sized and the water dishes that petsmart and such sells obviously does not sell big soaking dishes big enough for a rectic python. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can make a water dish that is a lot more natural looking? I would like it to look like rocks and possibly rough as well to help the snake shed easier. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Currently using a large black plastic bowl.

I answered an ad on Craig's List from a couple pleading for a 'catsitter' for 6 weeks while they were to be out of the country. 4 weeks ago they dropped 'Kitty' off. She spent the better part of a day & a half under the bed and after 4 days she was walking around like she owned the joint. The reason for my question is: Kitty is really, almost aggressivley affectionate. She hits the top of her head really hard into our legs or whatever she can, purrs loudly, and rubs herself up against us. We pet her, and talk to her and she seems to LOVE it...until out of the blue she snaps. I am talking she turns into a grizzly bear! She gets up on her hind legs and swats, hisses, and bites! I am to the point I am afraid to pet her, but it seems to make her sad when I don't...Two weeks can prove to be a long time for all of us if we must merely co-exist. Help?

I have a 4.5 month old pitbull puppy. I know what is required of this breed and I am fully committing to him every day. He gets plenty of exercise as well as obedience training. He's very well socialized and gets along great with kids and other animals. So what's the problem right? Although he is the sweetest and most obedient dog I have EVER owned, I'm getting scared reading all this crap. The docile pitbull who killed the one year old, I mean that dog was sweet and gentle and then it snapped. I'm asking other pitbull owners... are there any warning or distress signs to look for in the future. I'm home alone while my hubby is at work. He gets plenty of love, training, and exercise but what are some other pointers to make sure he STAYS this way forever?

I have a labrador retriever that we just got a few weeks ago. She has had a few accidents in the house, but other than that, it seems she may actually be potty trained. I have been watching her very closely, I take her out quite often as well.

She will walk around in front of me and just act different. Unfortunately when I'm asleep or I'm not paying as much attention to her, she has an accident. I was just curious, is there any way we can teach her to be a little bit more pushy when she needs to go. Maybe even bark or something. I don't mind watching for signs, but like I said, when I'm asleep or even when my husband is just home, it would be wonderful!

Sorry so long!

I have a 2 year old black lab/doberman mix who is really sweet and really well-behaved. The ONLY thing I cannot break him of is going into the kitchen and getting into the trash. Any ideas on how I can do this? I've tried just telling him "no", but as soon as my back is turned he's trying to get in there.

I have no idea what else to do. He listens to no for everything else, but the lure of the trash is too much for him.

Okay, our newly adopted completely adorable male kitten named "Belieze" was from a litter of four.
His Mamma had her kittens under our porch~escaped a rather neglectful owner down the street who never took good care of his pets ....
Anyway it was Labor Day when she delivered her kittens, and we gladly took care of all of them for a few months.
As they finally were weaned, getting bigger and the weather of course suddenly became cooler outside, it was the perfect time to adopt all the kittens and the Mother out to good homes they all deserved.
The weather was getting cold, so we placed all the babies on a cozy blanket in the tub in the bathroom and put the Mother in the the bathroom as well [we live in a small apt. along w/our pet cat]
To make a long story short, in about a little over a week, FINALLY [and carefully] found all good loving homes for all the cats, and we adopted one ourselves!! :--)

ANYWAY, our "little boy", Belieze was sleeping in the bathtub today I discovered

My dog has had trouble opening his mouth this evening. He wandered out for awhile and when he returned we noticed that he wouldn't open his mouth. We have tried and he has growled and barked at us, which he had to open his mouth. He has not eaten and he has tried to drink water but he can't. He has been trembling a lot. What could be wrong with him? I am going to give the vet a call in the morning. I live out in the country, I wish I could take him to the vet now. Is it possible that he got bit or stung by something. Anybody have an idea.

I went to the SPCA today to look what they had. I've been talking about adding a Cocker Spaniel to our family for about a year now, and brought it up today. Well, we went to town and I wanted to stop at the shelter, which we did. Just as I walked in they were putting a surrender Cocker Spaniel in a kennel. Whoever droped her off didn't give her age, but they guessed around 1-2years old. The things is, I've looked up what young puppies coats look like, and hers resembles a younger dogs coat. Basically it is shorter and thinner, but doesn't looked cut. You can tell it will thicken up, and that she is purebred, so that's not in question. What I want to know is anyone who has owned a Cocker, how can you guess at a better age, by an unaltered coat? Well, let me amend, her paws had a bit of trimming on them, but not much. Coat on top knot is about 2 1/2 inches, as well as legs and sides.

i don't know where the phrase "all dogs go to heaven" came from but i've heard it a lot.

So that means all tigers must be going to hell since they are bloodthirsty carnivores and killing machines. Makes sense. Right?
