I've searched questions on this and none have really nailed it down. My cat for the last 3 days has been pretending to use the bathroom but nothing comes out. He'll go in the litter, bury it, walk out and circle back to "use the bathroom" again only he just goes through the motions as nothing comes out. I don't get it, he's done this for 2 hours straight once. Out of these times that I observed this he layed down in the litter only breifly but this is strange behavior for him. Could it be a UTI?

Yes yes bladder infection! My lil one had it..his lil bladder was sooo full and he had to have a catheter put in .....then he got an infection from the catheter too! He was on meds for 3 wks twice a week...take kitty to the vet so they can fix him up.

They vet will also teach you how to detect if your kitty is having problems urinating. By showing you how to lay him on his side and feel his tummy where his bladder is...this helped me for my lil one...

He also may need to be on special food for the rest of his life as well. Mine was on I believe " RD " which helps reduce the amount of calcium deposits (crystals ) that build up that could cause an infection.

Believe me this is a very URGENT situation. Your cat most likely has crystals blocking his flow of urine.

You say two days now - that's the outside time limit. If he does not get to the vet IMMEDIATELY he will die from renal poisoning.

This behavior is not strange it is extremely common when a cat is experiencing this urinary distress.

Most lilkely UTI! Classic symptoms. Get cat to vet immediately!!!

Start feeding urinary health food. Purina One and several others available as well as more expensive brands. Once a cat has UTI, more susceptible to them, so avoid it with proper food. Make sure lots of clean water is always available for your cat.

A UTI is when they're blocked and they can't get the urine out. You need to have a vet look at him quick before the kidneys and bladder become damaged permanently.

Probably an infection of sorts. When people have a uninary tract infection they feel like having to go to the bathroom constantly but, nothing.

OO sounds like a urinary tract infection or kidney stone issue! He needs to go to the vet ASAP. The vet can catheterize him and relieve his bladder, and check for stones. If he has a stone that is tring to pass it can plug the ureter/ urethra causing intense pain and possible infection.

Sounds like he may have trouble relieving himself. This should be evaluated by a vet.

My parents' cat had UTI, but he let us know by peein' on our clothes (more comfortable than the litter box) and peein' blood.

Urinary tract infection. Get the cat check at once. If he has been blocked up for three days, he is in danger of doing damage to his kidneys would could kill him. (Had a cat who died from that.)

It sounds like he has problems in the anus or bladder. You should get it checked out before he starts dirtying in places other than litter box.
