I recently got a male betta, I was going to get a bowl, but I didn't have the heart to, I got a small, five gallon aquarium. I realize that I have a little bit of space and I know some fish that go with bettas, but I was wondering what fish I can add that you guys like. Any extra info about the fish you select would be great.

My kitten is 8 weeks old and I got him a few days ago. I know that 12 weeks is the optimum age to get a kitten but the guy was gonna have the kittens put down if no-one showed an interest so don't bother flaming me about it ;P It's been a while since I've had a kitten and am a bit concerned cos his stomach's quite round and solid. I know this can also be a sign of worms so he'll be de-wormed but I just wanna know whether it's usual that a kitten has quite a big abdomen?

recently i've seen my rainbow sharks start picking fights with eachother. they seriously go at it. one of them has a tear in its top fin because of it and it looks like both have little patches where scales used to be. is there a reason why they do this? im afraid they will kill eachother

For like a half of year this stray kitten has been coming to my doorstep and I've been feeding it and stuff and now it looks like its almost full grown. The problem is we aren't allowed to have cats and dogs where we live and cats are my favorite animals. So what should I do with her?

I caught a sweet stray cat about 1 year ago.. she is living in my garage with another stray. Problem: she will not come near me. I need to get her vaccinated & spayed, etc... and I have tried trapping her in a humane trap, etc.. but she is too smart. She will come within 2 ft. of me, but then runs away. I have tried EVERYTHING but she does not trust me! : (
BTW, the other stray is neutered and vacx'd and he is VERY friendly.. they keep each other company : )

Any ideas, suggestions to help her come around ?? : )
Thanks! : )

Anyone have a pit bull who gently holds your hand in her mouth, with no pressure? NOT a bite, and if you have something nasty to say about these dogs, go pick on a human you jerk. I really wanna know, this is the first time i've experienced this!

She got spayed on Tuesday and has taken it pretty hard since. She doesn't want to move and when you pet her she acts annoyed. We took her to the vet today and he said it was just likely due to her poor recovery. Now she is home again and is having short labored breaths and is still not interested in moving. I don't know if she is just in pain or what. Has anyone else ever had a bad spay/neuter story they could share. I'm just afraid she is dying a slow death...

While walking home yesterday an odd little puppy followed me home the odd thing is that she is only about 9weeks old and has DUCT TAPE around his muzzle. I brought him to the vet to remove the duct tape and since he was dirty and skinny I fed him and gave him a bath. since he was so gentle my parents let me keep him. Later I was when I was on the computer I read about dog fighting and how they would use puppies and small dogs as bait. Now I think there might be illegal dog fighting in my neighborhood. If I am seen with their bait that got away they might track my house down. The reason they might do this is because they might get caught they might think that I somehow got him and took him away which reveals that I know where they are.

Does it mean high quality?
Does it mean that your dog is a good example of his breed?
Does it simply mean that it is known that your dog is purebred?

Seriously - I want to know. All these people - especially as we approach Christmas time - are talking about breeding their AKC registered dogs. I want to know - what does AKC mean when it comes to breeding? Does it really mean quality? Good temperment? Good conformation?

Does your dog being AKC registered automatically mean you have the "go ahead" to breed your dogs?

My aunt has a long-haired chihuahua, he is about 6 years old. He had fleas and was given the flea bath medication. My aunt says he got a bit scabby but she put baby oil on him and his skin got better and she is "sure" the fleas are gone. But now he is rubbing his back/side on her wooden chair and his hair is falling out a lot. He has had no changes in his diet (which might suggest an allergic reaction), what else could be wrong with him??? Thanks!

p.s I know "take him to the vet" is the right answer, which is what I would do if it were my dog but it isn't :P

I found an abandoned kitten and have been nursing him back to health and he has been doing really well. But, today I noticed his eyes looked a little strange. There is a white membrane showing on both eyes in the inner corners. He is able to see but I am not sure what could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated!! I don't have the money to take him to the vet so would appreciate help! Thanks

And why do people get powerful breeds (mastiffs, rotties, pits) if they don't have the adequate home/lifestyle/leadership? And why don't people spay and neuter their dogs? If they aren't show dogs you have NO reason not to! Don't breed your dog because it's "cute"! You have NO right to when hundreds of dogs die in shelters every day! Why as humans have we let dogs down so much? Look at the shelters if you don't believe me...

have an aquairum that i need to design and stock
29 gallon bowfront freshwater w/ heater filter and 15w full spectrom plant growth tube
*i want to add fish and live plants. i can only count on be able to go to Petsmart, maybe a local aquarium store but the stuff their is kinda if-y. I want a simplistic natural look. i have gravel and all. all i need is fish and plants.
here are the set ups i am thinking about:
(fish and plants from petsmart and all planted with plants from local petsmarts and maybe aquarium store)
#1
Bosemani Rainbowfish(4") x2
Australian Rainbowfish(3") x2
Torquois Rainbowfish(2.5") x3
Dwarf Sucker Mouth Algae Eaters(1 3/4") x4

Opinions on these setups and suggestions for other tank setups for me are welcome. I would also like to know some products that help with plant care.info on suggested fish is also welcome.

do you this would be over stocked? for a 29 gallon planted aquarium.

Hi,
I am getting a ferret and I wanted to ask some questions about biting. Do they carry diseases? (Rabies...etc?) What's the best way to stop biting? Can they really break bones by biting? I saw that as an answer earlier lol. Anything else I need to know?
