i would ring the vet and ask, its a free call! i was told to give my 6 month old weetbix cereal with dog milk, that put weight on him real quickly, but talk to your vet about how much the pup should be eating a day, and they will let you know what to do.

pitbulls and bulldogs are small compared to a st. bernard. St. Bernards need alot of food. Try mixing canned and dry food together. If you just want to use dry then try moistening it first. Trust me the dog will gain weight. Don't over exercise the St. Bernard because she may be losing alot of weight that way because shes still a puppy.

There is a really good dog board for St. Bernard owners at www.bigpawsonly.com. They will have all the answers you need.

My Vet says to use all stages Canidae on my large breed dogs as there is some research that indicates that hip issues can be made worse by having large breed pups get heavy too fast.

How do you know she doesn't have worms? There are many kinds of worms and simply because she might have been wormed for one kind (and will require reworming in two weeks) doesn't mean that all were treated -- there are several that are very hard to 'catch' on fecals so it might very well be one of them (or more) or it could be any number of things... There is no way for anyone here to diagnos her problem -- you need to take her to a vet and have her thoroughly checked to see why she is too thin -- if you are feeding her sufficient food of good quality, she should stay in okay weight -- young dogs can be 'gangly' and not looked 'filled out' but they should be covered -- the vet can evaluate her for being too thin or not -- the larger breeds that may be prone to hip/joint issues (like St Bernards') don't need to be heavy as pups so don't overdo it but she needs to have coverage of her ribs so that you can feel them but not see them... same with hips and spine -- she is no different than your other dogs in that she needs to have sufficient good quality intake and be free of diseases/infestations that rob her of nutrition. Only a vet can evaluate her properly.

Normally I would suggest Canidae as I swear by it however it sounds like you need a dog food that is a little higher in fat. One of our dogs was that way and always lost weight on Canidae no matter what we fed him so we switched to Chicken soup for the dog lover and that worked for him.
Make sure you are feeding her enough, I bet it would surprise the average person to know exactly how much a St needs to eat.

You WANT a skinny giant breed until it is 18 months-2 years. If you "put weight" on it, you will likely make it too heavy and that will lead to joint and other orthopedic issues.
They mature slower than pits and Rottis. They grow for at least two years.
The best thing is to make a vet visit and ask if the dog is too thin. Chances are it is NOT and should be kept that thin until it is done growing.

I had a St Bernard when I was little! Saint bernards are large dogs bigger then pits and rotties and bulldogs.

you should be feeding your puppy dog food for large breeds!

if it doesn't say for large breed puppy's on the bag don't get it.

A growing saint bernard eats a ton of food. Consult with your vet to find out how much you should be feeding it.

what food is the dog on??
remember more nutrition means they dont have to eat as much

she should be on a premium food for large breed pups

if you buy your food from grocery or Wal mart - I can guarantee it is NOT good quality...
