I found an abandoned kitten and have been nursing him back to health and he has been doing really well. But, today I noticed his eyes looked a little strange. There is a white membrane showing on both eyes in the inner corners. He is able to see but I am not sure what could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated!! I don't have the money to take him to the vet so would appreciate help! Thanks

He also had some diarhea yesterday but now his stools are fine and he is eating well. Could he be dehydrated?

This is the cat's third eyelid. It's normal to see it occasionally, but if it is covering part of the eye all the time then you should schedule a visit to the vet, as this can be an indicator of medical problems. Your vet will be able to run any necessary tests and treat any underlying conditions.

If you do not have money to go to the vet you should call and ask if you can work out a payment plan. This can be a symptom of a serious condition, so it's important to take him in.

Time to go to the vet. What you are seeing is the third eyelid. It comes up when the cat or kitten is not feeling well. Could be a fever, could be parasites. Would be best to take the little guy in for an exam, test the fecal for parasites, maybe a blood test to check for Leukemia and FIV.......

Good Luck.

Aww, how cute. But yes, the kittens are fine they will grow out of that stage, maybe when they are about a month old or so. But as for the mom, I don't know about her. I recommend taking her to the vet or see if it clears up in two days MAXIMUM. But back to the kittens, just make sure they are bright eyed and bushy tailed and give them toys to play with, to ensure that they are not bored.

it sounds like your kitten might have Leukemia. there may be an infection in his wyes causing his 3rd eyelid to do that. i would have him tested as soon as you can, if you have other cats try to keep him away from them til you have him tested. i hope you are lucky that it is just an infection and not luekemia. either way you will be given an anti-biotic for the infection
