I found a female kitten. She is around 4 or 5 months old. She is skinny. I took her home and put her in my bathroom. I gave her food, water, litter box, and a blakent to sleep on. Her eyes are clear, but she seems to have some congestion. I going to give her to a cat rescue in the morning. But is there anything she will need before then? She has something sticky on her fur. I am afread of washing her up because of her congestion problem. Should I let the cat rescue see the residue on her fur, or should I clean her?

I just bought a house and It's right next to a creek. There is this cat that is probably at least 3 years old who lives in the creek. He's a very pretty cat and seems really sweet. The problem is that he's terrified of my husband and me. He will come sit on our doorstep, actually leaning against our door and he seems to be very at home in our garage if he manages to get in there. He also meows at me like he's waiting for me to come outside. I'm starting to think he may have belonged to the previous owners. I feed him periodically and he will come fairly close if I've put out food, but he runs if I even think about petting him. I dont know if he comes around like this because he thinks this is home or because he has a curiosity about my kittens. He started coming around before I started feeding him. I really don't mind him being around because he takes care of outdoor pests, but I feel bad that I cant show him any love in return. Any suggestions?

I realize this question may seem a little absurd, but I'm actually serious. My best friend is visiting from out of town and she always tells me that between her dog's paw pads it smells like corn chips. We figure her dog can't be the only one, right?

Also, if you do know of a dog in a similar situation, anyone know why the corn chip smell?

Thanks!

There are 3 dogs in the house. My roomates' dogs have no problems with proper potty behavior.

My two year old G Shepherd is a great dog but not the smartest. While I am at work or away from the house I keep him in my room via a child gate (crates are terrible to me so not an option even as punishment) and he has never peed in my room. While I am at home he goes in and out about twice an hour and does his business outside but for no apparent reason he will pee on corners (always the same two) in the house. I don't rub the nose but just use the "You're a bad dog" routine. He sulks and knows he has done wrong but will not stop this behavior. Any clues?

Gracy, my Shih Tzu, is home from the Vet's. She was spayed, and has been sleeping most of the day. But, she has woken up, went to the bathroom, eat a few bites of food and drank a tiny bit of water. We have gotten her to calm down if I hold her, which I don't mind one bit, but she has started to yelp a tiny bit more. We gave her her medication around two hours ago, as instructed by the vet. The vet's office closed quite a bit ago, otherwise, I would call them. Is there any way that we can take some of the pain she's feeling away?

I was lying in bed, dog at my side, cat by my head, and started to stroke the cat, (six year old short hair, second day of having him from the ASPCA) and he did his usual head-butts of love. He laid back down, so I started to scratch my dog, (13 year old, chihuahua/boston terrier mix, had her since she was 8 weeks old) and my cat got PISSED! He meowed very loudly repeatedly, and ran up to me and bit my cheek, I tried to calm him down and he charged me again, swiping at me. I stood up, and stared him down while voicing my disapproval of his actions. He just kept meowing loudly, then he just clicked back to his normal happy purring self. Almost like he had some kind of Bi-polar episode or something.

Cat is male, dog is female. Was this just an extreme jealousy snap or what?

I need to renew my pet license and to do this, I need to take him to the vet and get a rabies vaccine. How much will this cost? I have no idea, he's my first pet. He's in good health otherwise.

I remember seeing one in the pet store and it was sooo pretty, but I can't remember the name of the breed...it was white and had really silky long fur and maybe really light brownish-orange stripes on its face and really light bluish-grey eyes....does this sound familiar to anyone?

I have an outside dog, a Belgian Shepherd mix. He loves being outside and hates being indoors-- even if we're inside. We have a doggy door for him. He'd rather be outside with the mini goat (I know, they're odd friends). He has trees covering an acre yard so there's few spots without shade, a six-foot fence with all the gates locked, a short, clean stock tank that has an automatic filler, and a dog house.

So why is it so bad to leave him outside all day? Why do people insult others that leave dogs outside while they're not home? Do people not understand that for the most part, dogs like having space to run instead of being cooped up inside?

We adopted this puppy from a shelter several months ago and we are always trying to guess what she is. Our best guess is a lab/ doberman mix. She is about a year old now and 70 lbs. Does anyone have a guess as to what she is??? Thanks!

I swear half the people on here asking breeding questions are under fifteen. Does it occurr to people that if you have to ask twenty questions about breeding your cat or dog, that maybe you shouldn't do it?

I hear alot of people throw around the slang "backyard breeder". Ive read many many posts regarding their vile selfish money grubbing nature. I even read one question seeking a new name for them so that irresponsible pet owners would be more willing to own up to their dirty deeds and actually consider themselves one. I read alot of really nasty comments. I saw alot of name calling and blaming. I noticed many long lists detailing what they are, what they do and why they deserve the worst corridors of hades. What I have NOT seen is a list of things that qualify breeders as "responsible" or "professional". Please enlighten the uneducated masses and explain what defines one, versus the other.

Hi,
This has been really bugging me. I am very faithful about doing a partial (1/4) water change every week on all my tanks. I add the correct amount of dechlor to the water, and make sure its chemistry is close to the tanks. I change my filter cartidges once a month, and feed my fish twice a day. None of my tanks are overstocked, this is what I have-
-1 male betta in 10 gallon w/ power filter set on low and heater that keeps water at 78-80F
-1 male betta in 5 gallon w/ undergravel filter and heater that keeps water at 78-80F
-2 male bettas in divided 10 gallon w/ heater that keeps water at 78-80F and 2 small power filters
-1 29 gallon w/ 12 female bettas, a heater that keeps the water at 76-78F, 4 bronze cories, and 1 small dwarf pleco w/ 55 gallon power filter

A dog breeder would like to give me a dog as a gift. I would let my sister have it. She has three kids, very playful ones and they live in a suburban setting. She may not have the time to walk the dog that often although the dog can have a yard to go around with. She would need a dog which is both playful with kids but very territorial (would do as 'sentry' at night or when nobody is at home). Long-haired breeds are a no-no to her. Any breed that might do?

Hi,
Once again my bettas have gotten dropsy. I do a 1/4 water change w/ a vacuum (though I only vacuum 1/2, not all of it throughly, the other half I just get the top layer, then I switch next time I clean the tanks because I have heard this helps w/ water chemistry) I have 1 male in a 5 gallon, 2 males in a divided 10 gallon, and 1 male in a 10 gallon all by himself. I also had a female in a 1 gallon, now she is in a 3 way divided 10 gallon. Anyways, out of the 5 bettas I have had with dropy, all were either a white with a little red, or a yellow/white color. Do these certain colored bettas have a weaker immune system or something? I have all thier tanks equipped w/ filters, and a heater that keeps their water at 78-80F. My other bettas are fine, even the purple/orange male who was in the divided 10 gallon w/ the sick male betta. Anyone know why?
Thanks!
