That was what I heard. A bit inhumane, isn't it?

Ky. Girl Survives Losing Scalp In Pit Bull Attack 9/10/07
Child In Stable Condition; Scalp Found In Dog's Stomach

HODGENVILLE, Ky. -- A 4-year-old Kentucky girl is lucky to be alive after a gruesome attack by the family's pit bull.

The attack happened Monday night at the child's home in Hodgenville, in Larue County, Louisville television station WLKY reported.

As Emily Page Stinnett remains in stable condition at Louisville's Kosair Children's Hospital, Larue County Sheriff Bobby Shoffer struggles to remember an attack as gruesome as Monday's.

"It's the worst I've seen in my 17 years of law enforcement," he said.

Shoffer added that when he and his colleagues responded to the Stinnet's home, they saw a blood-spattered doghouse in the backyard, Miller reported. And the pit bull hadn't seemed to calm down since the attack. The deputies then took action.

She's been on this food for a few months now & she seem to like it a lot. But I think she may have allergies, I don't know if it's from the food or something else. She tend to lick & bite on her paws in the morning & at night when she goes to bed.
I've also gotten a sample of the Canidae All Stages food from the pet store for her to try; but she wouldn't touch it at all! I mixed the Canidae sample into her Innova but she pick them all out & won't eat them.
The reason I'm considering switching her Innova is because I've heard that Innova don't have all the natural ingredients some other brand have. Don't know if this is true or not.
What other puppy foods should I consider? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Im buy the last couple pounds of live rock to day and after a month of cycling im wondering what fish should i introduce first? I have somewhat of a list of the ones i want and the ones i can house. The blue hippo tang is at the top of my list and im wondering since it is very susceptible to ich should i introduce it first so if it catches it it doesnt spread to the other fish. I also dont have a quarentine tank and dont plan to establish one atm. My list is as follows:

2 true percs
Blue hippo tang
Royal gramma
Three stripe damsel
flame angel/coral beauty or annularis angel (when tank matures)
and others that i might want later on down the road.

I have alot of experience with nano tanks and ive finnaly made the upgrade to bigger and just have a few questions. thanks

I really want another pet but my parents always say no when i ask for another one.

I have a cat but she is pretty boring and shes not so crazy about being held. And she gets bored with her toys pretty quick.

I would really like a gerbil. NO dogs (wont let me even though i LOVE them) NO parrots (annoying) NO fish (too boring) NO more cats (my cat doesnt like other cats) NO chinichillas i guess (very exspensive). But of you have a good reason why i should get one of these pets tell me why.

If you have any other ideas on pets let me know. And by chance do you have any ways to convice my parents to get another pet?? Thanks!

Please - no stupid answers, and only answer the question below if you have knowledge. Any abuse will be reported.

I have a small dog and so does my brother - neither dog has ever been hit or abused - but I see them act cautious at times (not all the time), as if they fear being hit. My dog is afraid, or at least barks at, anyone with a stick/rifle/etc. - any kind of long instrument. My dog is just over a year old - and I am just wondering if this is innate - self preservation - behavior - esp. because they are small dogs?

What size of outdoor kennel should I buy for my German Shepherd? He loves sitting in the garden, even when it is raining and hardly comes in the house. Many places selling kennels give sizes in medium / large / extra large. The large is suggested for Labradors and extra large for Great Danes. P.S. The kennel will only be used during day time so I don't need larger kennels for heaters etc.. Thanks for advice..

They don't have any animals at home. He witnessed a dog attack and was told repeatedly by his former daycare provider that dogs will attack you. We were walking in the park the other day and two energetic young Weimaraners passed us. They were big dogs and definitely straining at the leash to greet us but I was shocked when he started screaming in mindless terror. He tried to run blindly into the woods but she managed to grab him. He shrieked and shrieked louder than anything I have ever heard and could not be soothed until they were out of sight. He was completely out of his mind with fear. She told me that she really wants to get a dog but doesn't know how to teach her son that dogs are friendly. Any suggestions?

Thinking for down the road: I might be moving in the next year or two (hopefully), and it may be well out of state. I have a 6 gallon aquarium with 4 fish in it. It's not saltwater or anything, but three of the fish do require a heater and the fourth one does better with a heater as well. So if I'm going to move somewhere that would require, potentially, a drive that lasts a couple days, how do I bring my fish with me, keep the heaters and filters powered, and avoid dumping a tank full of my fish buddies all over the car?

It is a personal choice. Maybe I want a pure bred dog from a breeder. I am sick of seeing people push their opinion on your about this topic. I don't want an older dog with improper training. I want a young puppy that is raised by me and me alone. Having a puppy is a huge financial responsibility and this type of choice is up to the individual.

I'm due in 3 1/2 months and I already have somewhat of an idea what to do, such as bringing home items with the baby's scent, making rule changes BEFORE bringing baby home, etc. I also know all about not leaving kids and dogs alone unsupervised.

My question is more along the lines of... What kind of new rules should I have with my dogs? I realize it's a personal decision, but I wanted to know what you think of things like:

- Not letting pets up on furniture (I currently let them on the couch).
- Whether or not to let the dogs in the baby's room.
- Should I let the dogs sniff at the baby or make them stay away?
...and also...
- What are some things I can do to prevent allergies? The baby will be coming from a sterile environment to a home with 3 dogs!

I just want to be prepared. Thanks so much!!!!! :-)

He's lost some vision and has other symptoms of aging, but was just to the vet and is healthy except for a respiratory cough. He's taking hydroco/hom 5mg for that. We have a doggie door that he's been using for 12 years, but recently he started peeing in three spots in the house. We use Nature's Miracle to destroy the stain and the smell but it's driving us crazy. We really don't have anywhere to seclude him. And, no, I will not get rid of him or euthanaze him. Any ideas?

My dog Gizmo can be knocked out sleeping, but if he hears a door bell sound on tv, he will wake up and jump up. I find it very funny and tell him that it is only tv. :)

I know! I know! "The turtle will eat them" or something or other about feeder fish.

BUT how big compared to the turtle's head would comets need to be for predation immunity?

We just got a three month old yorkie and today she decided to start chewing on our fingers. I started to dicipline the puppy because I think chewing on hands is one (not okay) and two going to lead to biting which will absoutly not be tolerated. Last thing we need is for hr to think it's ok to bite people because she is always around many college students.

We bought hr raw hide bones and I have a feeling these play chews are part of it's teething. Is this something I need to dicipline because it could lead to biting or is this hand chewing ok?

I bought a Bubble tip anenome about a week ago, and a couple of days ago it got into the spot it likes, but it is wierd, it will be fine at night, and for a hour or so in the morning once the light comes on, but then it will become all small, and it's tentacles no longer are bubbly, but are kind of shrivelled, and are greenish instead of a healthy pink. Like i said, it is odd because there are times when it looks just beautiful, and nothing wrong, and then at other times it looks like this. My water quality is fine, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 10 or so nitrates. Any comments, is this normal? Also, my True Percula Clown hasn't gone over to bond with it, will it take a long time? How likely is it that it will never host with it?

I have a 6 week old pup, i know biting and mouthing is normal for a pup but he starts to go for my face and growls agressively, i have read up on techniques to stop this but nothing seems to work, if i say "no" firmly he gets even more angry and goes to bite anything he can get hold of on me, if i walk out of the room and leave him, i come back in to stroke him and he will start again, if i pick him up he growls and barks at me and goes for my face, i can see the anger in his face as he goes for me, the thing that is worrying me is he dosnt seem to do this with anyone else he has been introduced too, just me, he mouths like normal with other people dosnt get angry like he does with me. What can i do? Im starting to think he just dosnt like me

we are looking at buying a 2 year old boston,
he is not neutered, he is white with black spots so he does not have the "normal" boston markings.
i just wanted to know what a reasonable price would be for him to make sure we don't pay to much.
thanks!
