I know! I know! "The turtle will eat them" or something or other about feeder fish.

BUT how big compared to the turtle's head would comets need to be for predation immunity?

I think it's a chicken turtle, and he regularly eats that dry maggot and minnow mix.

I know they'd normally eat fish, but they wouldn't attempt anything once the fish are a certain size, right?

Ps: Golden apple snails are ok with a turtle whos mouth they could fit in, right? Or would it eat the snails too...?

A turtle will eat anything it can catch, regardless of size - it doesn't have to swallow whole, it can use it's claws and mouth to tear food. Generally speaking though, a bigger fish will be more likely to survive.

If the turtle is still a baby and the fish is 4 times as long as he is he won't eat him. I had a baby turtle and I went to the lake and brought home some shad that were huge compared to the turtle and the turtle watched them and when they swam by him he got really scared and went to the bottom of the tank. He should be alright if he is really big and the turtle is still a baby, preferable an inch in width in the shell.

Mixing fish and turtles means neither has the sort of habitat it wants or likes.

Turtles tend to chew on fins of goldfish, no matter what size, and they can pretty easily eat apple snails- they go after the soft tissue, not the shell.

I have red ear slider turtles about...hmm 7 inchs long and 5 wide. My hubby and I bought them goldfish (12) and they all died. They were tooo big for their tiny cute mouths so we bought them feeder fish waay smaller and fast which is good because they need exercise hehe! try it!

dont know abut snails, but goldfish emit a very strong amonia content. very few fish or reptiles can survive in a tank with them.
